Here's something for you guys to think about, as much as the fandroids may deny it they're no better then the iSheep. They seem to rant and rave as much as the iDevice crowd and if it doesn't have Android it stinks, even if happens to be better. What's even more hilarious is they actually think their platform is open, yeah ok sure.

I haven't really got a horse in the race. My phone is a BB Pearl from 2007, so that should give you some idea where my phone sits in the pecking order. My next phone could run reruns of I Love Lucy (let alone Android or iOS) and probably be better from a technical standpoint than what I've got now.

But I've got something y'all don't have with your fancy-schmancy smart phones. A KEYBOARD! W00t!

Oh, it's true, there are fools on both sides of that debate.

In fact, I was anti-Apple back when I bought my first MP3 player (opposed to their ubiquity and their prices) but then a couple years down the road, I opened my mind a bit, bought a 4th gen Touch, and damn, I loved that thing for a year and a half. What happened then? I got an Android device with a bigger screen, and suddenly couldn't go back....lol.

Now they've made the screens bigger, but the pricing hasn't improved. I was all ready to go iPhone 5 this time around, but when the AT&T guy said $299 up front, I just couldn't do it. For $99 up front I could have had an 8GB iPhone 4S, but that was the old small screen I didn't want to go back to, plus it was already a 2 year old phone at that point (and 8GB, not enough). For that same $99 up front I got my big beautiful 32GB (+ microsd expandable) Android phone, and I have no regrets.

I do still want to get an iOS device again, although I'm not sure if I'd want to give up SwiftKey when it is time for my next phone (might have to stay Android there). But the iPad Air is just beautiful. I'd love one with 128GB, if Santa is listening. :D

My previous phone is a prepaid LG pseudo-Blackberry with the tiny-key QWERTY keyboard. Still works fine, and it is technically still active until Valentine's Day...I used to not enjoy texting on it though, because my friends with smartphones could text so much faster than I and I couldn't keep up....lol.

I use a WP8 Lumia 920, I have a Nook HD running a custom Android ROM, and I listen to music on my iPod touch. I'm multi-OS myself,...and there's nothing wrong with it. Fanboi's suck,...it's as simple as that.

My wife is the type of user that complains if the desktop icon changes. The switch from Office 2003 to 2010 to 2013 almost sent her on a Redmond, WA killing spree. She recently switched from an iphone 4 to a Samsung S4. I asked her if she saw a big difference in her new phone, and her reply was: "The screen is bigger, I like that."

This tells me, without doubt, that there's no real difference between IOS & Android. tongue.gif

Is there a pilot on-board? Is there a pilot on-board?!? Oh wait, that's me! Sunglasses emoticon - sunglasses-smiley-emoticon.gif

Of course my RA chose this morning to flare up, and it was 34F outside, but I sucked it up and went on with it. Aced the oral and visual, then while flying the examiner asked,

"When did you start flight training?"
"Wow."
"Yeah, it's all there."
He looks through logs. "You already have 83 hours?"
"Actually, 85."
"Oh yeah, 85... and a 1200 mile CC?"
"TYS to GKT to RDG, then back."
"If I didn't know better, I'd say you've been at this for years."

He even sipped his coffee during the approach and landing. Not much else was said beyond, "nice little bird you have here" and "great job, congratulations". I appreciate people of few words under those circumstances. We mostly just sat back and enjoyed the scenery.

Instrument rating in 2 weeks, then I need to get some multi-engine time (the commercial grade doesn't interest me) and pick up the other ratings I want along the way. Now I'm going to relax for the evening.

My wife complains when she has to use my Android phone, griping that she "can't find anything", so I'm not so sure about that. biggrin.gif

So the first TMAC meet is going to be airborne? biggrin.gif
post #10347 of 11291

Unfortunately, due to it taking place in an aircraft, the only headphones we'd actually be able to hear properly would be QC15s. Every one of us would have a pair, and it would therefore be a very boring meet by gear sampling standards. :D

I used to be involved in the fandroid vs iSheep but honestly I don't really care anymore. The new idevices are great hardware. Just a little bit costly.......... Ohh and I hate iTunes on windows.....
