So let's get me pointed in the right direction guys.

 

Shall I get cheapy IEM's like the Mono ones for plane rides, etc. Then get like AKG 701's for the home? (But fuuu that'll be alot of money).

 

Or shall I get some closed headphones, such as Mad Dogs, etc?

OR... Get IEM's that can rock?

The Monoprice 8320's are just a great pair for the price, I love them, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND picking them up, as they are only $8.40.

AKG k701s are kinda bass shy they have more of a tight bass rather than thumpy bass, also these require some hectic amping / source that would lead you up to about 600-1000.

 

In short, akg 701/702 will suck without proper amp / dac. But sing pretty well properly amp'd/dac'd

 

Get iems that can rock your socks, but if you want to experience the monoprice ones they're only 10$, but I would end up giving them to my sister anyways because I know I have much better. -Not trying to flame the previous poster- Just saying ._. I feel so bad for some reason

If you're going to do that, try to get these Darth Beyers (The guy went down to $220 with me, but don't tell him i said that! (http://www.head-fi.org/t/622769/a-pair-of-darth-beyers-for-trade-sale)).

Dude. Buy 1 pair of good earphones that you can use on the go, and stick with that. Worry about a "home" headphone later, when you're laden with cash and have lots of time to spend at home.

 

Also--I think it's already been said--the 701 is the wrong headphone for rap.

Solely opinionated  on the last comment btw :p, some people might love that non thumping artificial bass, the akgs are pretty fast though

Just being an ass, don't worry about it. Powering an iem to good listening levels and amping them right are completely different though so an amp may be able to power something, but doesn't mean it'll sound good right?

Let's say this, a trader on here has some TripleFi10's he offered me for $140... That sounds good right?

ONLY thing is he has 25 posts, been a member for 1 year, and no trader ratings on here.. Idk how well Paypal would work in my favor IF he was a scammer..

Oh, it's cool, it's just those got me into IEMs in the first place, and you have to admit, there had an amazing price/performance ratio, not that there aren't better, these are just great gifts and go everywheres. I actually need to buy another pair, as I gave my back-ups (unused of course) to my girlfriend, and lost mine!

So are you saying TripleFi10's have artifical bass? Cuz I HATE hearing the bass, and not feeling it... Like those cheapy POS Skullcandy Skullcrushers.. I wanna actually feel it, instead of artifical noise.

If you buy it as an invoice (He'll ask you for 3.5% extra), I'm pretty sure he has to send it to you, if not he could probably be sued.

I prefer them with cones

the bass is down a level, but the isolation is better about 5-7db
