which amp are you talking about in particular.

 

The HF-3s aren't terrible for their price they're pretty good, but the bass is shy.

 

As snag1e said these iems don't really require any amping, but rather the source is more important because iems well don't require much power to run. Putting that aside, if you don't care about the little bits and details that could improve your sound by 10-30% on low ends, then you would be fine with your android.

 

If you are planning on getting a 4s though, you could really just stop there for any source upgrades (portable)

Thanks, Idk why I guess I just always seen them as awesome, and like a "generator" that would create awesome sounds, etc. You know.. Like a NOS bottle in a car. :P

 

Okay, so HF3's, TripleFi 10's or something else? 

Basically now my limit is $170 or so WITHOUT an amp. But IF the IEM's that you recommend NEED an amp, then my limit is like $110..

Oh, if you get an S3, the Fiio E7 (The E17 doesn't work), you could also use it as a USB DAC.

Man I just hope IEM's can produce atleast some nice bass, I dont want it to be like my Apple headphones where you only hear voice, no beat..

Why don't you try the Monoprice 8320's with the tape mod and an EQ, to see if IEM's have bass :P (They're cheap, $8.40 on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007VEQ2UU/, amazing value!)

It's not about "IEMs" in general, it's about which IEM you choose. Ditto with headphones. Some are bassy, some aren't.

The triple fi will blow your mind, if all you're really used to is Apple earbuds.

The main reason for that is look at how it's designed, its not even in your ear it's like putting an abysmal speaker near your ear.

 

Theres also a limit to how much bass you can demand for, if you increase the db of the bass too much it'll start sounding muffled and just bad.

I can't think of any IEMs that really need amped at all....Imo you would be much better off spending the $170 on better quality IEMs / headphones, and forgetting the amp. smily_headphones1.gif

^^ I fully understand. Kinda like those people riding around with their trunk flexing :P I'm not into THAT much bass, but yeah I like it to thump, and sound better than just highs ya know..


So the TripleFi's will blow me away, and have nice bass? 

 

And umm, the Monoprice stuff looks good, but think I want name-brand, just IN CASE I wanna sell, then I know the value will still hold fairly good, ya know?

TF's will blow you away, and they're kinda like a bass-rook, not the best piece on the board but hits you straight
