VSD3 - 299RMB

VSD5 - 399RMB

Day of release - 1 January, 2014

So, the VSD3 is around $50 and is supposed to compete with earphones at $500. The VSD5 is around $65 and are supposed to be about as good as a pair of $370 dollar Westones? I feel like I'm missing something here. I just googled the prices of the phones that they are to be competing with after using google to convert the prices.

I think they have a big restructuring of production, and maybe they will turn the market.

I hope something is off here. I just spent $180 on my BEs and feel ripped off after reading this. I think this just might be another wild claim by Vsonic. I remember them stating that the VSD1s were supposed to be 80% as good as the GR07s, but the posts in the thread don't seem to indicate that.

Hey if the claims are true then the consumers win. No doubt the vsd1 I have are the best bang for buck iem in my collection.

Would you say they are "80% as good as the GR07?" I never tried the VSD1, but I had the MKII for 6 weeks and currently have the BEs.

I think you will feel ripped off. And the vsd1/vsd1s are certainly living up to the hype. Some people are even saying that they must be more than 80% of the Gr07!

They are maybe 85%, but that last 15% is what really counts.

The GR07 will be that much better, especially in the key areas. I really like the VSD1, but there's a reason it's not replacing the GR07.

You should order a VSD1 to put your mind at ease.

I read that the soundstage is noticeably closed in and the bass is less controlled, compared to the 07s.

Yes, and depth is a serious issue on the VSD1. The GR07 is a good deal faster, the bass goes deeper, the treble is more refined (with the exception of the 7k spike), and the mids are more holographic. All that is within that last 15%.

The 80% thing seems to make sense, now. A wide sounstage and rich bass are hard to come by, and it's usually one or the other in an iem (from my experience). When I was starting out, I didn't realize how important soundstage/instrument separation was. All I was concerned with was the bass. After trying the GR07s, my needs have become 65% soundstage, 35% bass. I don't need the boomy bass, just a little impact in hip hop tracks. I don't really need the 'bump' in rock.

/mini rant

Like I said earlier, I get the idea that they are tuned to sound like said phones. The VSD3S has a shape, fit, and detachable cable like the W4R and seems to be tuned to a similar signature but performing at that same level is probably not the case. Possibly the $199 VSD7 can go toe to toe with the W4.

Either way, im excited about the new releases. And Vsonic seem to be one of the most innovative companies in the industry right now.

HOLY CRAP the black versions are soooo SEXY!!! ME WANTS!!! Finally Vsonic is stepping up their design game and if all these wild speculation is accurate, the audio game as well esp. for these low prices??? eek.gif

But i ain't gonna get too hype for it since they seem to say a lot of sh!T, but products never see the light of day so..... Just lovin' the looks of the black VSD3!!! cool.gif

Hifiman needs to learn what's up tbh, crappy built is crappy built no matter how good they make their iems sound.
