New headpone extension cord need help

Hi I just bought a extension cord for my headphones so I can use with my computer, for some reason when I plug the new extension cord into my pc I only get sound out of one side, the left side only.

 

I tried plugging it in directly to the sound card in the back of my pc but I still get sound out of one side only.

 

Can someone that has experience with these things help me out?.

Make sure that the extension is a stereo extension and not a mono one. Also make sure that it's plugged in all the way.
