VA / MD / DC meet on Saturday, December 15, 2012

OK, I'll definitely be bringing a Mjolnir and Gungnir to the meet, so if you have any balanced cables, bring 'em.  I wasn't sure if I'd have the M+G because I mostly expected to audition and return them because I only expected an incremental improvement from the Lyr--but boy--was I wrong!  Amazing combination--really blowing me away with the LCD2.2.

Yep, dog padz/comfort strap.

OK, Great.  I'll have a pair of Fostex, fresh off the rack so we can perform some comparisons - but, most of all, enjoy the tunes and the experience.

Me too! I'm guessing since it's a public library we can't bring food in, but it looks like there are some great restaurants nearby. That Honey Pig Korean BBQ   place sounds mouthwateringly good

Yes, Sir!  The Honey Pig Koren BBQ is most excellent.  I haven't been to this particular location, but there is one out on the western side of Fairfax county - in Centreville.  It was a very good lunch that I had there with some co-workers.  I think the location I went to is actually open 24-hours.

I'd like to try and make it to a meet. Don't have a ton to contribute, but I'll bring my Mad Dogs, Headroom Airhead, and my Macbook w/ some tracks.

Don't feel as though you don't have a lot to contribute.  I've felt that way in the past by going and realized that there can be a lot learned in this process.  You can walk away with a great perspective on what the other headphones and amps are like and gain some experience with them.  Even your contributions will enable others to see and hear how items such as the Mad Dogs are.  Unless we have very deep pockets, we can't purchase everything ourselves and end up returning 90% of it.  But, at a meet, you can realize that what you might have had a target on, is or is not what you expected.  It can either do one of two things: 1) Help you determine that you didn't need to buy that $999.00 pair of headphones, when a $300 pair would suffice for your needs.  Or, 2) You'll realize that your $300.00 pair of headphones are not sufficient, and you'll need to opt for the $1,299.00 pair to get your needs met.

I'll pack my HE-400s, the modified Fostex headphones, and the new AKG K167 Tiesto, that I should be receiving tomorrow.

Oh man,  I'm working that day!   I can offer 20% off Sennheiser, Grado, and Klipsch to Head-Fi members that day if anyone is looking for anything.   Our location is not far from the meet.

Can't wait for the next one!

Welcome, Craig!  I love IQ-AV, as I only work about 2 miles from there.  I'm trying to save money, so I haven't visited the store in a while. But, I am a Monitor Audio man and have a fine pair of the RS-6 in Rosenut, paired with an SVS sub.  My 2.1 system is set.  Yet, one never knows ... maybe, the RX-10, or 12 in the not so distant future - or even the Monitor Audio platinum line ( " schweet " )   Since you can't make it, just let me know if you want to use the HE-400s for a few evenings.  I can get them to you at the store almost any day of the week.  Mine are the Rev. 2, with velour ear pads.

Can we bring our HE-6s up to the shop and try them out on some amps?

Craig, I would like to second this question? Would it be OK to try HE-6 off some of these amps (off speaker taps)?

Yes you can bring in your HE-6 and hook them up to our amps.   We currently have about 5 or 6 two channel amps on display.  Also some cool integrated pieces too.
