I will also be a bit late, i have to catch up on some work this morning. But I will see you all there later!!

I know this really isn't a swap meet, but I will have a couple of vmoda cables and some surplus fostex cables for a few bucks available as I thin the herd. I would also will my Grado license plate frame to someone who is a true Grado fan. It has brought me good karma for my carma.

I'm working today :(    If anyone gets bored and wants to stop by IQ Home Entertainment we have some cool stuff to check out.  I'd love to hear some LCD-2 or HE-500s :)

Sucks I couldn't make the meet.  I was able to help a new head-fier get set up with Sennheiser HD600s and a Peachtree Musicbox.   Great little setup!

I just wanted to say what a pleasure it was to meet all of you in person. I think we have a cool little community and while it was nice to listen to everyone's gear, it was also really nice to talk all each one of you, get to know you a bit and learn a little more you all and our hobby.  I want to extend my thanks to all who made this meet happen -- the organizer and everyone who brought in gear. I am really happy with the HE-6cs- can't wait for them to burn in and be paired with a proper amp! That GSX sounded really special.... I also hope we can pull something like this again in few months.

PS. Craig, sorry I did not make it. I needed to get back to my wife and 6 mo old daughter -- next time. Looking forward to meeting you in the future. 

I had a great time too. It was terrific meeting such a nice group of people and the day flew by. Big props to the head fi-ers that drove long distances to get to the meet--we're glad you came. It was gear overload and I'm still trying to sort it all out in my head. Viktor--nice meeting you and congrats on the HE-6's--definitely a favorite of mine--especially out of Justin's amazing GSX. I'll post some photos and random thoughts later.

Ive been to a few meets. Always been a really fun time. Disappointed I couldn't make this one. Open invitation for anyone in the area. I really want to hear some LCD-2s. If any owners wanted to come to the shop and let me have a listen, I'll return the favor on some sweet 2 channel systems. I've got Focal Scala Utopias, b&w 802d, Martin Logan CLX, focal electras.

Yes, you really missed out.  It was a great time.  Justin had his fine Audeze's, as well as amps to include the new, upcoming Pico power.  I missed Viktor's HE-6?  How did that happen?  I purposely did not bring any source, nor amp, so that I could take time to listen to the other headphones.  Bah!

 

No STAX listening!  Bah! #2

 

No Schiit to listen to (sorry Barry.) Bah #3

 

No AKG G701 to listen to as I didn't get a chance to move over to the massive computer and gear driving them.  Bah! #4

 

No Audeze LCD listening!  Bah! #5

 

No Sennheiser HD-800 listening!  Bah!  #6

 

Whew!  That was tough.  While I didn't get to listen to many items that I wanted to, it was still great to hear what I did as well as talk with many members about audio perception, build, sound capabilities, value, etc.  I have meager priced equipment with my HE-400s being the highest cost headphone I have at the moment.  Maybe, it's good I didn't hear the higher-end items, because my desire to own might have been overwhelming.  Then, when I returned home, my wife mentioned that we had received a $9,000 bill for my daughter's next semester at college.  Sorry, no new toys for awhile.  

Soo when us the next meet? :-P

I got a voelctric v200 and kingrex ud384+upower to show....

... And maybe a WA-6SE MAXX...

Some brief thoughts and impressions and pics to follow...

Best in Show: 
Hands down, the HE-6 out of Justin's GS-X. At the meet the GS-X was being fed (balanced, I think) from an Oppo BDP-95, and then balanced out to the HE-6. I can say I know now why folks like preproman rate it so highly...clarity, soundstage, transient speed, you name it, this headphone has it in spades. And the GS-X, to my ears, effortlessly grips this Godzilla by the scruff. 

Congrats Viktor on your new HE-6! 

Surprise(s) of the Day:
How great the HE-500 sounded just straight from the headphone out of mralexosborn's Sansui A7900. Surprise #2 was the LCD-3... from the early reviews I read, I thought that after 5 mins on my head I would be selling a kidney to get my hands on one, but my wallet was relieved to find that I did not like the Audeze "house sound," as much as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great headphone, but just not to my taste.

Twilight Zone special mention:
The Stax SR-009 + Blue Hawaii combo was just uncanny. Like, most likely to have been fabricated on a Cylon Basestar, uncanny. Like, diaphragm hand-sewn by Queen Mab from the soft underdown of baby griffins under the harvest moon uncanny. This is a very very good headphone+amp combo, but the sound is maybe a little too perfect? 

Thanks again to wje for letting me audition his Maddogs, and to whoever brought the Schiit stack (Lyr, Gungnir and Mjolnir). Maybe at the next meet there'll be an ODAC/O2 so I can hear what all the fuss is about

What did you listen to the LCD-3s on?  

 

If you didn't like them then you'll hate the LCD-2.2s.  Sounds like we like some of the same things out headphones.  Clarity and speed.  The LCD-2.2s to me sounds congested and slow when compared to the LCD-3 and the HE-6.  This is IMO..  However, for this reason, I do like the LCD-3s   But not better than the HE-6..

 

I heard them out of the Gungnir + Mjolnir stack, and the GS-X, but they don't sound as immediately engaging to me as the HE-6 or even my HE-500 out of the same gear. I confess that I'm mostly relieved that I don't have to save my pennies to buy the LCD-3, and can start dreaming of the HE-6
