It is beautiful, but how much will it cost... hopefully not another 850$ wallet crusher.

got an answer to my pm from Jmoon today:

"Thanks for your feedback. We haven't heard about this issue yet, but I'll definitely forward it to our engineering team.

We hope to have this fixed in the future. Please stay tuned!

Regards,

JMoonAK"

So lets hope this is going to looked after :)

but i think more people have to chime in and raise voices !

Hi - has anybody already tested the new JDS C5D with the AK100?

I would be very curious how they pair.

That's the one with the onboard DAC, yes?

I'll see if Billy's got one at Noisy Motel here in Melbourne. I'd be amazed if the C5D DAC outperforms the AK100's DAC though so I'd expect that just the amp is all I would use personally and it's a good amp (I've used the C5) that pairs nicely with the AK100.

Yes you can. Format to Fat32

Hi guys,

I just tried out the USB DAC functionality of my stock ak100, but couldn't get it to work. I 've been using an old MacBook with Snow Leopard and Itunes.

Normally I don't need this function so I took a while till I tried it out. Now I don't know "if the problem sits in front of the PC" or if here is really an issue with my player.

I used the components: MacBook USB --> to AK100 --> to headphones  - not a sound ...

What am I doing wrong here? I am pretty sure that my old MacBook has still got USB 2.0

Thx

I'm using 2 SanDisk 64gb cards formatted with guiformat - works perfectly.

Go to sound preference(or audio MIDI) and make sure that the output is set to AK100, not on board DAC.

Dear AK100 MK II users out there,

I have a favor to ask from you.

According to Iriver official, MK II firmware is specially tuned,

and it is included in the SAME firmware file to download for regular AK100.

On the official page, it says the file would automatically detect if the hardware is MK II.

If yes, the file would then extract MK II firmware accordingly to update the device.

How can a software detect ohm hardware differrence?

I am guessing there must be a file in the root directory of MK II

that makes the firmware update process recognize it.

As a modded AK100 user, I am very interested in the tuned firmware for lowered ohm.

May I please ask for MK II users' help

to share the content in the root directory with hidden files included, if there's any.

Of course please spare the Music folder where your music files lie.

Thank you and I will let you guys know if there's any significant change in SQ.

Where was it stated that the AK100 MKII had a special tuning? IIRC, only the limited release of the AK100 B-spec in Japan had that special tuning.

I can read Chinese characters so it's easy for me to grasp what the iRiver JP official page is saying.

Still, I provide the relevant links and translation if you need.

From iRiver JP MK II Product page:

主な変更點
出力インピーダンスを3Ωに変更 (※通常のAK100は出力インピーダンス22Ω)
AK100 MKIIの為だけにプロのエンジニアが特別に調整した専用「PRO EQ」
   (※3dBゲインブースト機能と合わせて使用することにより、真の効果を発揮します。)

Google Translation:

The main changes
(AK100 ※ The normal output impedance 22Ω) change in the output impedance 3Ω
Dedicated professional engineers have been tailored just for AK100 MKII "PRO EQ"
(The use in conjunction with ※ 3dB gain boost function, I show the effect of the machine.)

インストール時にファームウェアプログラムが「AK100」か「AK100MKII」かを自動で認識いたしますので、共通のファームウェアファイルになります。

Google Translation:
Firmware program because it will automatically recognize or "AK100" or "AK100MKII" during installation,It becomes the firmware file common.
