I am using a v6 stage and was pretty much going to pull the trigger on dx50. However I saw a rather nicely priced ak100 in the second hand market. Do you think they are a good pairing if I do not intend to use a amp? Or should I just go for dx50 as its widely accepted that it is one of the best bang for buck DAP in the market now.

Thanks!

I rhink it has been covered a couple of times regarding output impedance. Due to its high OI impedance, the signature of your multi balanced armature IEM will probably be altered.

If you want direct connection, it would be wiser to choose DX50.

Howdy.

Me again.
I am looking at 2 pairs of in ears.

Senn IE80 - http://www.addictedtoaudio.com.au/Sennheiser-IE80-InEar-Headphones

ASG 1 - http://www.addictedtoaudio.com.au/Aurisonics-ASG1-Generic-Fit-Digital-Hybrid-Monitors

I was wondering if anyone has experience with either of these with the STOCK AK100 and how they feel the synergy is.

I know its all subjective, so opinions are welcome!!

ie80 should be fine. It's a single driver.

HI there,

Also, I have been seeing "listrid" firmware.

What is this exactly and why would I want it.

I had done some searches and can find the occasional download link but no idea how it differs to official firmware.

The Listrid firmware is a non-official version created by a Russian AK user (who has now moved on to other devices).

I'm not sure what others are finding, but I'm sticking to the genuine firmware because it offers the DAC feature (not in the final listrid fw). Some feel that the listrid version offers a different sound so you might want to try it if that's of interest and you don't want to use the AK100 as a USB DAC.

I think I have a copy of listrid's final version if you want to try it. PM me for a link to my Dropbox folder.

Hey,

Thanks for that.

I too use my AK as a DAC at work, so no joy and I am happy with the sound from the AK as is :)

Since somebody else had shouted out their concern recently, I also want to say that an alphabetical browse option addition in the albums/singer navigation would do wonders since the touchscreen is not the most fluid you have ever seen...

Do you realise you can scroll using the orange bar on the side of the touch screen? Once someone told me this it alleviated my need for alphabet browsing

Yup, noticed it since I bought them. The problem is I am using its leather case and it hinders my finger to touch the edge of the screen.
I actually at once thought to remove the case but I could not bear to see the device get scratched tongue.gif

Ah, that's a challenge then. Nit sure what the answer for that is.

Haha yeah I have the same problem with the case on.

It is manageable but it is awkward.
