so I got a new 32gb card to test today and I found the problem. Like you said before it is a problem with the track since there is a folder that is not in my 16gb card and AK100 cannot play those files even though they are APE (other APEs are fine) Remove it and both cards work like charm. Thank you

Hi people, any recommendation for a portable amp to pair with the ak100. Mine is not modded. Could an amp help in bypassing the 22ohm output?

Yup. Amps usually have very high input impedance, which cancels the 22ohm from AK100.

RWAK uses Cardas cables right? Anyone knows which specific Cardas cable is used?

Amp recommendations? I think you should look into amps that suit your taste of music.
I have a Glacier on hand but would rather use direct connection to the AK100 unless I buy some multi-BA IEMs in the future biggrin.gif

I feel like it is best to keep direct connection to AK100.

I love the Tralucent T1 with my (RW)AK100

I used to feel the same, but someone on here (Gintaras perhaps?) was discussing the virtues of the T1 + RWAK100 pairing so I tried it and it adds just the tiniest bit of dynamics (perhaps at the expense of just a hint of transparency).

As you can probably tell from my language, the differences are minimal with the RWAK100, but were dramatic with the AK100 due to the output impedance issue which it completely nullifies.

Sorry don't really get it. Difference is minimal with RWAK while dramatic with AK100?
That sounds contradicting with the first statement?

+1

I really like to keep my rig simple. Even the Glacier is too big in my pocket for my taste, but with the high output impedance issue I might start bringing it around with me. Again, IF I purchase a multi-BA IEMs or low impedance IEMs in the future. For now, my trusty buds have served me so well in my travels etysmile.gif

Because you have a bigger difference in SQ between stock AK100 and an amped stock AK100.

I bought a LS4, the impedance of it was just higher than ak100 by 2ohm. I feel that it doesnt make a difference in SQ when connected directly, perhaps?

Yes. Difference is significant because of the stock AK100's output impedance and it's influence on the sound of many IEMs. The amp fixes this problem.

EDITED: rushed and wasn't clear about output impedance being the cause of sound quality issues

Yes indeed, I finally thought it was time to upgrade from my 2009 MBP a few weeks ago... and even though it's an Air it kinda runs circles around that Pro : / ... apart from the display. And the missing optical out. I'll keep looking into a solution for the AK100 either way.

I use a meier 2stepdance. The size is a great match to the AK100 and I love the sound.

I use a Vorzüge Vorzamp duo. Footprint match is really good (check mah pix), but the sound, ooh the sound! Magical pairing for my tastes :basshead:
