I don't see how the knob would break, even if you drop the unit and it lands on the knob.  If you've seen how the knob is screwed in on the inside of the unit to a coupler and then to the rotary encoder (which sends the signal to the dac), it's pretty solid.  I know it has some wiggle and play in it, but that is so it can move about freely.  If it didn't have that play in it, it would be more prone to snap off.  But I can't see how it would in the first place - It's solid aluminum.

Or is this just about protecting from scratches?

Thanks,

Vinnie

yeap you said it, protecting from scratches is the main reason for me to purchase it.. i cant bear to see scratches on my Goldie...

Cheers

Will the black knob protector matches your goldie AK?

Shouldn't the volume protector help with accidental turning? I really don't like to have the volume lock on, because I have to turn on the screen to change the volume.

Send it for gold plating, I hear it improves the sound.

I think if you connect an antenna underneath the knob protector you might be able to capture extra bits other won't get, but only if you gold plate it first . wink.gif

I also think that if i were to rub my Gold AK100 against my Rolex, the dynamics would significantly improve.

So I heard but for the ultimate best if you drive your gold Ferrari and stick your gold Ak100 out of the window while your Rolex creates static, the electrons might travel close to the speed of light and are likely to achieve vacuum performance but be careful it will turn in a flash in the pan if the protector falls off the AK.
