sorry I didn't read the whole thread, but what is this Master Quality Sound stuff?  Is it a new format?  And where do I get it?

I don't agree with you here. What us the point in having lots of files support is the SQ is not the best, or close? I had DX100, and i heard the Tera Player. And i can live with only WAV, as long as i get a beautiful sound, wich i am sure iRiver can't. especially with IEM's.

I'll bank on the FiiO X3,... I bet the sq will be much better than any of us have anticipated. Then, as we all have experienced before, your "buyers remorse" will kick in. And with only WAV as a format I would surmise the Tera Player will have quite limited resale value.

Anyways, enjoy your purchase. Don't forget the recommended hp's - koss portapro's. rolleyes.gif

Thank you kind sirwink.gif, the Tera Player will be there to stay. For me is still the best DAP when is about portability, SQ, shape and size. This hobbyis getting rather expensive, ha ha.Time to settle down.

Gotta love Head-Fi and people trying to justify their purchases. If you have to get all defensive and try to "justify" your purchase then something's clearly wrong. Does it hurt somewhere deep inside of your heart? Does it make you uncomfortable that you spent a lot of money?

If you truly love your purchase, then...

  • you shouldn't have to come on the forum and try to justify it.
  • you shouldn't have to care about what other people thinks.

Just my two cents.

See musicday the thing is you "had" the DX100 with an old firmware that doesn't sound nearly as good as the latest update. Before 1.1.7 was released my DX100 was gonna go up for sale but I held onto it because I noticed the firmwares were changing the sound quality of the device. I feel the sound quality has improved more than 10%. Honestly in my book in terms of percentage increase taking into account the enjoyment factor a good 35 to 40%.

Damn the AK100 is priced better the the others, and the expandability to 90gig+ is something to contend with.  Now if only the battery life was >20 hours with FLAC, i may pull the trigger.  With all these high end players, it seems its always battery life that's the limiting factor for me.  At least it seems the AK100 charges via USB which makes a portable battery pack a viable option for extending battery life (gotta love my Kingrex UPower) =D

But most of me wants to wait to see Fiio's entry as well as the new HiFiMan coming out.
