Well that is the name of the company ;). The actual name is DX100 :P. Keep an eye out on it seriously. The product is very good now with the latest firmware update and it will only get better. ibasso is now opening up its API to certain vendors to further develop the UI. Dmitry from Neutron Audio is very interested in this as his android player is capable of 24/192 support. So I talked with him about it and he's gonna try talk with ibasso. Also I think power amp is able to support 24/192 but is also limited by androids native audio driver (at least I remember reading this on their forum is I recall correctly :P). So we'll see. But the future looks very sweet for the DX100. Also figgie (a very helpful headfier who is adept in android coding) is gonna be receiving a DX100 to run tests on. He's also gonna work on the UI and minor issues left on the unit. smily_headphones1.gif

That sounds indeed sweet. Maybe I will have a look at the Dx100/ I however like the form factor of the Ak100. Being small and a good UI.

I however should not disregard the Dx100. May main problem is that I did not really look for a new DAP for the past 5 years. There are so many new players out there from completely new brands / companies it is almost scarry.

Scary but at the same time it's like being in a candy factory with so many varieties to choose from :). I'd say just make sure your headphones or IEMs are gonna fully benefit from the DX100 if you do go that route. It's quite the capable machine. Not the smallest unit out there but still portable enough in my case.

I am used to larger units since I still use Cassette tapes/walkman's. For digital music I use... drum roll a DCC170:) I bet you any thing not many will remembet those:) Anyway, Will have a look at the DX100. I am running Heir 3.ai and in the near future Tzar 350's.

Has any happy owner of the AK100 noticed any difference b/w Hi-Res FLACs and uncompressed WAVs? What ear/headphones did you use if you noticed the difference?
That's a pity this DAP doesn't have a line-out:(
Oh, just curious: does this DAP support album art?smily_headphones1.gif

It indeed surpirced me it does not have a line out.

There is no issue with using an amp with the J3, and saying that is a falsehood.

My bad, I guess I meant that my uha-6s mkii doesn't play too well with the j3, never tried other amps with the j3.

No problem. I've used different amps with a few different Cowon players over the years. I've never had an issue. But, I've also never used a super-sensitive iem with these setups either. So, I can't say that you may or may not have had some issues with crosstalk, distortion, etc. I hope I didn't offend,...

Nope, it's all good, I just find that when using the uha-6s mkii with the j3 at the max volume of 40 and have certain bbe settings on, I can hear some clipping and other odd distortions.

BBE usage explains it all to me. biggrin.gif I really dislike it myself,...but a Cowon has a great EQ nonetheless.

Seems I am spending all my money on (C)EIM's and I am very happy and confident with my purchases but the DAP side of things, which I initially though would be the easiest, is actually the more complicated of the lot.

AK100, DX100, Colorfly C4, Tera Player.

All aside it is actually fun to read up while listening to some music :) Still after 2 weeks of looking and comparing I am not the wiser. Main problem is that None of these players can be sourced locally and all have one or 2 draw backs. Sigh.
