The New iRiver AK100: A High-End DAP - Page 337

Cheers guys I have tuned off the Autoscan. I don't seem to be having a problem with track orders now, all my tracks seem to be in the correct order.....I hope it stays like that because I only ever use artist and album views on my players.

Once I get the cards to recognise on the DAP everything seems to be in working order and this is a great little player (even if it is infuriating every now and then)....... Can't wait to get my Tzar 350

I've never noticed any weird things with bass in AK100-SE535ltd-j combo...

So, do you really think AK100+Vorzuge Pure+ SE535ltd-j would be better though it would be double amping?

It comes down to you on whether you want to spend 420 USD on an amp or have it modded for 250(plus shipping). The modded AK100 will suit a large pool of IEM and CIEM however having an amp means you can easily sell them separately when you want to.

I used the EX-1000 and ER4S for my testing, they sounded really good.

I'm just curious why JMoonAK didn't write the psot above, as he was
the one who joined headfi and was doing the posting for A&K.

I hope he or someone from A&K can still post updates for us regarding
all the questions that J Moon was looking into. I was happy to see
them communicating here - I hope they will continue to do so.

Jmoon was incredibly helpful to me, very respectful and well mannered. I

from customer (me)

Dear Iriver,

If you mean JMoonAK then I can tell you that this guy did 1000% better to attract interest to your new products than your whole marketing team combined.

Please note that JMoonAK was not peddling any product, instead if he provided very helpful answers and insights regarding firmware, fixes and else... he never did anything wrong and actually he did many things so right.

Excuse me, let me explain this in plain customer words. I warmed up to AK120 not least thanks to JMoonAK because it created a feeling for me that AK cares about customers, that AK wants to reach out to its customers and is willing to offer unparallel support.

Now, I again have my doubts because IF excellent communication which JMoonAK established on this forum will go broken and we will be left guessing in the dark about this or that, then I must think twice if this worth getting AK120.

I only can hope that you will continue excellent communication and will be interactive in helping loyal customers and I also hope that people like JMoonAK must get promotion because they take care to reach out to customers and because they do it for the sake of corporate reputation and customer satisfaction. For once I again may repeat that I am happy Apple customer exactly because Apple offered unparallel support and because Steve Jobs himself was very responsive to customer complaints. So instead of damping iMac I bought 3 more not counting iPhones and iPads :-D

I only can hope that you read this post and take a note. We need not only great product but also great customer care and we appreciated JMoonAK communication A LOT!!!

thanks

Vinnie, i find this so unjust and i do not want buy product from a company whose customer service will be as bad as Cowon...

seems my warming up to Ak120 might stop.... do not know but Iriver response left me wondering.... JMoonAK was very helpful and at least helped to improve customer care. i concur i wrote one email to AK Iriver support BUT... only after JMoonAK joined us i was able to receive a few emails in which Iriver offered me answers and help. .... i can only hope Iriver will continue in this direction of improving customer care and JMoon was one of very few at Iriver who did a great job on this from my personal point of view.

FFS IRiver sort your **** out!!!

Has anybody else had any problems downloading the 1.33 Firmware Update from the iRiver Website?

I can download the Zip file but when I try to unzip it I keep getting the message that it cant open the file and it is a invalid arcvhive...I have tried using JZip and WinZip to no avail (same message). I take it I need to unzip the file before I copy it across??

I must say the way things are going I wish I had held out for a Fiio X3 or Ibasso D50....the AK100 is just a complete pain in the Ass to use!!

I think you are jumping to conclusions.  JMoonAK's account doesn't qualify as "private".  I highly doubt he is the one referenced.  But A&K might hush him still.....

The way I got away with it is i installed the iriver plus 4-->connected the AK100-->Device-->Update firmware.

My guess is that you cannot fully download the firmware and it keeps cutting out.

Yep I had that happen before. I just retried the download and eventually got it to unzip.

lol I was never able to get that software to work.... I was actually having more issues trying to use it to upgrade the firmware. It kept freezing on me.... I thought you were required to use that software to do the update so I was very pissed at the time. I'm guessing  they got the software sorted or you are using a different version of windows from me? I use 64 bit which may account for the issues. Still the software was very bad lol.....

There was a patch/update (1.66) that might have solved the problem. BTW I have windows 7 64 bit.

One of my favorite usages for the AK100, sourcing the Vorzamp Pure for FitEar Customs.

I still haven't installed any software to date LOL.  I just connect it as an USB device and copy music or firmware over.  Firmware update actually happen as soon as I disconnect USB after copying to the internal memory.

I have had so much issue with Samsung Kies that I didn't even bother trying iRiver's.  My firm ROM flashing via ODIN actually went much smoother than trying to connect my Note2 to Kies (Win7 64bit).
