The New iRiver AK100: A High-End DAP - Page 285

No I meant the stock one, I have given up on the AK100-111iS. Did you like them? I have read beside the fit they are not that much better than the ER4S when it comes to sonic performance.

I tried the F111 with my Go-DAP 4.0 a long time ago and it didn't do anything for me. Since then, I never really went back to it (and subsequently went out of stock). In retrospect, it was probably my player not the IEM...the Go-DAP 4.0 has a headphone impedance out of 47 ohm - I'm actually getting it modded to drop it to 10 ohm tomorrow.

Sorry, a long winded way of saying, "No I haven't, but I should".

I think the fact that I don live in Japan is a blessing, otherwise I would always be broke :) Thanks for the reply.

Guys, do you thing there can be any profit of connecting a very small amplifiers like Fiio E6 to the AK100? Maybe something a bit bigger, but not too much. it should definitely remain a portable and convenient for outdoor using.

(RW)AK100/DX100 owners, I gather most of you use FLAC as the primary format? Recently acquiring a Tera Player, it's kind of a pain to manage 3 formats (ALAC/AAC for iDevice, FLAC for AK/DX100, and WAV for TP). However it seems the AK/DX100 supports WAV, therefore aside from album art and mp3 tags, can share some thoughts of WAV on the AK/DX100?

I'm looking at converting approx 1100 tracks in 16/44.1 -> 24/192, should I decide to proceed.

I tried WAV on my friends memory card, its pretty much flac ,and if you are going with 24 bit files, I guess you are going to rip all of them all over again?

I am not sure if the hassle is worth it just to use the tera player

Wow....if you were proposing to do that then 24/96 should suffice.............

Why don't you use ALAC/ACC for iDevice/AK100/DX100 and WAV for the TP?

On a side note, you needed the Colorfly C4 and HM901 to complete the collection of all the top tier DAP. Keep it up~!

Oh, sorry...badly worded. I have 1100x FLAC files ranging from 16/44.1 to 24/192 that needs conversion to WAV (most likely same sampling). I didn't mean upsampling during the format conversion.

Hmmm....true! At least the DX100 recognises the ALAC tags if I'm not mistaken - but AK100 doesn't/didn't (or I'll need to do the whole tagging thing again for ALAC).

ALAC fills up my entire AK100 and, no tagging issues. Some artwork issues here and there though. I am outright lazy when it comes to converting an entire library and it doesn't help when my Mac and iDevices want ALAC. So, the ALAC support that iRiver brought in really helps.

I keep everything in their original lossless form on my AK100 except for wav files because of tagging. I down sample everything to 16bit/44.1khz for my rockboxed iMod and down sample higher bitrate/sample rate for files my <insert> iDevice cannot play to their respective limits.

I have no idevice, I rip mp3 for my wife only smily_headphones1.gif
So I have all Flac on one side for dx100 and upcoming ak100, and all wav on the other for Tera, and there is no problem in managing the two, since you do not need to "manage" the wav in a program like MediaMonkey, you just organize the files. So only my flac are on Media Monkey. Converting the flac to wav with db poweramp is really fast and easy. I converted 120g of flac in a few hours. Only problem is doing so on a disk with space as the wav will take almost twice as much. To reproduce a "playlist" system on the Tera, I juat put number in front of album names so they playin the order I want. I think it would be a pain to go all wav. There is a risk you would want to go back and retag everything smily_headphones1.gif

Greetings AnakChan.  Not a (RW)AK100/DX 100 owner, but a TP owner.  I will try to share my conversion process on that thread so as not to derail this thread.  C U over there.

I am getting bored waiting for the ie800s to get back in stock.  Thinking of trying out either shure 535 or westone 4r on my stock ak100.  Anyone tried pairing either of those phones with the ak100?  Thx.
