The New iRiver AK100: A High-End DAP - Page 284

actually my RWAK has 1.30 firmware which works fine for me.

album art? could not care less especially because AK screen is below average quality for this not to be compared to Cowon S9 or iTouch... so i actually prefer black screen without album art.

speed? with 2x32G cards my RWAK functions pretty well and i do not care for 64G card, rather i keep more 32G cards at hand.

else? do not know what would be the problem, start up time is slow but it's fine for me while swapping songs and browsing is good.

meanwhile i will upgrade only if AK people will introduce better battery meter, support of cue files and ... may be... gapless?

otherwise i do not care about firmware upgrade.

Did you experience abrupt termination of your songs?

no, i did not experience songs drop out... until now everything works smooth, perhaps because i use only 32G cards and never tried 64G?

That is good news than considering how the battery is not soldered to the PCB, can you possibly identify the maker of the battery in anyway possible?

We can hear SQ different , like spkrs01 heard more dynamic and has better separation compare to the black .
Maybe spkrs01 can do the comparison after his AK 100 come back to him.

i would also want to know the difference of the batteries in the black and gold AK100. >.<

Rudi, any chance of some specs on the gold battery? It would be an incredibly easy mod to swap batteries if we can find out what's needed.

He has not took a picture from the battery

I am sorry tm.chen
I don't have any idea about the silver colour , because my DIY friend has mod most the black colour and only 1 AK 100 gold .

Would then the ak100 that is bundled with final audio heaven 4(allegedly with matched impendance) would sound better? i am generally fine with that kind of stuff (no bass)  how would i go around to fixing the impendance problem without well modding the ak100 or adding amp,  like what kind of tips can you give me in choosing headphone and iem?

Did anybody hear or experience some problems with RWAK100 compared to stock AK100? How about reliability? Are there any additional risks with this mod? For example, if the headphone out is occasionally shortcut with a conductor

Are there any real disadvantages of RWAK100 (except for the price)?

the FAD is only a rebranded release, they have done nothing to address the impedance issue. I havent tried it so I cannot comment but thought it is important to point out for you.

Your only option is try out any headphone/IEM with an impedance of greater or equal to 22*8= 176 ohms.
Also if you can audition the CK100PRO. They recently have gone down on prices a lot on pricejapan. I had a very positive experience with them. (Please note that is based on my own expereince)

The risk explain by iriver for bypassing the resistor seems to make as much sense as their explaining of having the resistor. Beside the high price that redwine charges there is no other reported risk of going for the  the RWAK100.

Problem with the RWAK100 over the AK100? I can't seem to put my RWAK100 down :p. It kinda goes everywhere I go even to my wife's dismay.

I've been happy with my RWAK100 since I got it 4 months ago. It's not the best sounding of all the DAPs in my possession, but it's the most practical compromise.

Anakchan did you have the chance to audition the AK100 with F111?

Presumably you mean the AK100-111iS rather than the stock F111? Sadly no. I've seen it in the e-earphone store behind the glass cabinet but never tried it. I tried the standard F111 ages ago before but not with the AK100.
