If folks are interested in a High Impedance IEM, or even a CIEM Heir Audio can do it.

I have a couple of IEM concepts already.

That's quite nice Wizard. Also can be handy for usage on amps that tend to hiss :).

Happy to see that this is made in Korea smily_headphones1.gif How is the sound compared to iBasso, if you can compare them, and if you can try it with Westone 4R will be awesome. Is the screen LCD, or OLED?
WE waiting for more impressions from you. Also is there a need for this DAP to be burned in?
Thanks, Levi

Video is scary. Haha just kidding xD i'll see if i can put one up? Never done oit before..

I'd like to try to compare the sound with the DX100/HDP-R10.

I'll ask a friend if i could borrow his 4R for it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence xD i'll see whst i can do smily_headphones1.gif

From my ie80

Not as dry Cowon
More detail than sansa clip
Dark background
Pretty narrow soundstage
Better to work as a transport with amps

S$780 @ show , S$870 normal price

Pros
Up to 140gb storage
Pocket friendly
Well built aluminum case
Bit to bit hi-rez player
Iriver a well established company, new firmware are promised to give users a better experience

Cons
Not ergonomic designed, buttons seems off place
Not the smoothest user interface
Screen is large enough, but maybe larger to vview another 2 lines of song would be good

And you guys can read more here

Present!

Honestly, I need more time with it, haven't gotten around to actually listening to it yet since getting back from my Japan trip, so I'll have to get you back on that :)

Do you plan on using it as a transport? I wonder how good it would do in that scenario....

the higher end model will have 2 wolfson WM8740 dac, will be larger in size...

some new impressions after firmware upgrade to v1.12

is rated 12-17 hours, is around there

takes 25 seconds to boot up,

user interface pretty straight forward... like a ipod touch

firmware still slightly buggy, but i am pretty sure iriver can fix them very soon

feels good on the palm

very nicely built, iphone quality

64gb microsd fat32 is working,  almost 150gb of space!

Thanks for the info!  Are there gaps or breaks between flac songs?  Will it support gapless? (Actually the question was for the AK100)

Sorry for the confusion...

Cheers!beerchug.gif

There's a new firmware 1.1.2 released for the AK100. This version doesn't do anything about the impedance issue but I'm actually curious if software (firmware) could do anything about it (including workarounds if it cannot be fixed firmware wise). At the store, I was attempting to use EQ to fill in the the frequencies I felt were lacking and although it improved the sound somewhat, it wasn't enough to "fix" it fully. But customised firmware may be able to do more than what the basic EQ can?

hi! i am a convinced hater of iem's and if i got this gem (i like it's design) i will use it with headphones (like audio technica es55 and grado's). is there anyone around here that tried iriver ak100 with headphones? i care none about it's performance in iems and high impedance output, i'm just looking for a review in sq in headphones, as the company recommends the dap for.

iRiver recommends the DAP for IEM's on their Korean page, it's only in the email a fellow head-fier received that they recommend headphones. If you still think they actually know what they are doing, be my guest wink.gif .

By the way, Audio Technicas have an impedance of 32 ohms for most of them, which makes them not the best pairing either. Same as IEMs.
