If folks are interested in a High Impedance IEM, or even a CIEM Heir Audio can do it.

 

I have a couple of IEM concepts already.

That's quite nice Wizard. Also can be handy for usage on amps that tend to hiss :).

I'd like to try to compare the sound with the DX100/HDP-R10.

There is a audio show in Singapore lately and saw that iriver is one of them. and there was some impression by someone who bough it.

Honestly, I need more time with it, haven't gotten around to actually listening to it yet since getting back from my Japan trip, so I'll have to get you back on that :)

Do you plan on using it as a transport? I wonder how good it would do in that scenario....

the higher end model will have 2 wolfson WM8740 dac, will be larger in size...

is rated 12-17 hours, is around there

 

takes 25 seconds to boot up,

 

user interface pretty straight forward... like a ipod touch

 

firmware still slightly buggy, but i am pretty sure iriver can fix them very soon

 

feels good on the palm

 

very nicely built, iphone quality

 

64gb microsd fat32 is working,  almost 150gb of space!

Thanks for the info!  Are there gaps or breaks between flac songs?  Will it support gapless? (Actually the question was for the AK100)

There's a new firmware 1.1.2 released for the AK100. This version doesn't do anything about the impedance issue but I'm actually curious if software (firmware) could do anything about it (including workarounds if it cannot be fixed firmware wise). At the store, I was attempting to use EQ to fill in the the frequencies I felt were lacking and although it improved the sound somewhat, it wasn't enough to "fix" it fully. But customised firmware may be able to do more than what the basic EQ can?

hi! i am a convinced hater of iem's and if i got this gem (i like it's design) i will use it with headphones (like audio technica es55 and grado's). is there anyone around here that tried iriver ak100 with headphones? i care none about it's performance in iems and high impedance output, i'm just looking for a review in sq in headphones, as the company recommends the dap for.

Its good for headphones, it drove my LCD-3s fine.

iRiver recommends the DAP for IEM's on their Korean page, it's only in the email a fellow head-fier received that they recommend headphones. If you still think they actually know what they are doing, be my guest wink.gif .

By the way, Audio Technicas have an impedance of 32 ohms for most of them, which makes them not the best pairing either. Same as IEMs.
