The New iRiver AK100: A High-End DAP - Page 237

Anyone have an issue browsing by ALBUM with the firmware 1.32?

When I try to do that, the AK100 says no album which is weird because when I browse by artists, it shows the correct albums for the given artists....

Yes, I had similar problems with 1.30 when I went beyond 10000 songs.   1.32 can't read the library database at all if you go beyond 10000.  At least that was my experience and other users reported similar problems.

Agreed.

But my song list is hovering about 2900-3k.   As much as I love the HARDWARE iRiver really needs to get it's act together on the firmware.

I think in general the library scan in 1.32 is less stable and reliable than 1.30.  It might have something to do with the changes they made to get it to boot faster.   Something about it just does not read database files in the same way.   I noticed that the 1.30 will read the db file created in 1.32 - but not the other way around - at least not the ones with 10K+ songs.

I assume that you ran the scan more than once.   If not, try it again preferably immediately after rebooting.  Even with 1.30, i sometimes have to run it more than once to get a complete scan.

You could try scanning again using 1.30 and then saving the db file.  You can update again to 1.32 and replace the db file there with the one from 1.30.  It probably won't work, but it might since you have 3k or less files.  That could make a difference.  Not sure if you want to go to the trouble of doing that.  You might better off reverting to 1.30 and waiting for a fix.

Consider contacting iriver support and sending them the db file that is corrupted or not being read properly by the AK100: System\ak100SyncDB.db3

Is this a good price for AK100?

I don't want it, maybe someone else is interested, some lucky Australian out there.

That's so cheap. Almost too cheap no?

It is legit, that is where I got mine from and they are legit.

You know, if AK100 didn't have the output impedance problem, I would probably seriously consider.

H2O, insanely good price for new AK100, hard to believe. you make me feel jealous after remembering what i paid for RWAK.

and you will have plenty of pennies left for adding amp which will remove impedance problem. lucky you tongue_smile.gif

man, i know you love amped DAPs so what's the point about impedance? buy Ak100, add good amp and you done. L3000.gif

PS: you know this is a revenge, once you seduced me into buying some portable stuff and now i am returning in kind tongue.gif so far so glad.

Yea it is a great value, even if the iriver brings their new AK100 which will have the impedance issue fixed they will not sell it at 449 AUD. This is why I bought it. We all know we will always use DAP regardless how good the DAP sounds. If people are adding amp to DX100 and C4 and the hm-801 who is to say they will not amp the AK100? :D

I could always amp it, but I wouldn't want too with a mere $100 amp, which means forking out more $$$. I don't know, to me it just wouldn't feel complete with the problem, mind you, I would be completely unaware if I wasn't here, and probably be just as happy. it's the knowing part that plays on my mind.

I'll hang around and pick up a DX100 eventually on the boards, possibly Studio V 3rd Anv in the mean time. However, DX100 is in my sights long term.

The final purchase?! How many times did you say that to yourself since you bought your first audio gear? :D

H2O, come on, dx100 size and weight are no go for me as comcerns portable, i also suggest T1 is hell of an amp and not overly expensive, but i am not to tell you what to do. Just remember battery on dx sucks :-(
