thanks mate.

Yes, it has a relatively high output impedance, but it is still less than half that of the AK100 at 10 ohms for the main headphone jack. The 2nd headphone jack has a 20ohm impedance.

Still, I'm hoping to compare the two players at the London meet so I can hopefully work out what, if any, effect that has on the sound between the two.

It would be great if in the meet up you guys could do a blind testing, it would be an interesting experiment.

That could be a little difficult (well if you have minimal tracks then not) as the tera has no screen to navigate. I'd think comparing the same tracks on both units in WAV would be a good test. Even blind as you mentioned.

I still hope they do some sort of testing, dont mind how or what it is :D

Please avoid disparraging people, especially when their contributions are generaly useful to many. Adding lol at the end does not make it any less disparraging.

To be honest, I've barely glanced at this thread but when I had the opportunity to play with one this past evening, I was rather impressed. At least the one I played with (and presumably the rest are the same) it doesn't necessarily have enough juice to drive the hard-to-drive headphones like LCD's, or Hifimans, etc. however more than enough for the kinds of iems/headphones I own (in my profile).

I think it's cos of it's compact size, quick UI, and 24/192 support plus good sound that makes my DX100 feel like a slow brick. Having said that, I've not really thought things through fully 'cos my DX100 isn't just my DAP but my little testing DAP too - i.e. I use it a lot for testing other DAC/Amps with it's Optical and Coax out. In addition I do use the 1/4" jack (despite mine having connectivity issues) as much as I do with the 3.5mm. So I need to re-evaluate my personal use of the DAP too.

As above, I have to admit I've not really read this thread except for a few initial glances. So thanks for enlightening me about the output impedance thing and I'll read up more about that & get back to you.

Shades of the Meridian Explorer - everyone was breathless with excitement until Tyll let the output impedance cat out of the bag.

Still no gapless..  =(

Still, I'm all about software/firmware updates.

I heard again from iRiver that they are working on it. so .  . .

Huh, every time I try to extract the .hex from the zip file, I get a message in OS X telling me it's an incomplete file, so can't be extracted.  I've now tried re-downloading twice since the initial try.  Guess I'll give it a shot tomorrow,; no drastic improvements anyway based on the changelog

Same issue here with Win7.

I guess it's bad then....

Maybe it's the browser?  Using IE worked ok (but Chrome did not).
