I can see it right now, the absence of a second DAP in your house, the enjoyment of WAV files. You my friend are destined for a Terra Player. Once boredom sets in which you'll currently claim won't happen, and your curious senses start itching you will soon be the owner of a TP. smile.gif

You heard it here first, straight from H20 enterprises. wink.gif

At least from what I'm hearing the Tera Player is more of a laid back sound. I think that is quite the opposite of the Studio V. Not really after that type of sound to be honest. I'd have to change my IEMs to something like the NT6 to bring balance to it IMO :). But I would like to demo a unit to see if it lives up to the hype.

Funnily I got to try a friend's SigPros with the RWAK100 and it turned out to be fine. Having said that, my friend went through 3-4 different SigPros (they were all 2nd hand) and found the best sounding one. And from my experience with SigPros, "not all SigPros are created equal".

P.S. We had a decent meet. Aside from the RWAK100 & SigPros, we had the CLAS-dB+RxMk3, DX100, MHd-Q7, Go-DAP X (LME49860), 1Plus2.

battery gets chewed up noticeably faster with HiRes material....i'm guessing 35-40%

I can confirm that. A couple of days ago, I was away from a computer/charger for a long afternoon, and it went from full to almost empty in 5-6 hours with all lossless mix of standard & HD material. Whatever was left would never have stretched to 10-12 hours as claimed.

I've also given up on cover art, I don't know what their implementation is, but with 90% of -embedded- artwork is not showing, and manual fixes are working about half the time without any consistent reason, it's just too much trouble for all the albums I have. Haven't heard back from them regarding my unrecognized internal drive either. Not a $700 experience at all, sound quality notwithstanding... glad that at least I didn't blow another ~$250 to "fix" that. If it had been in the ~$300 range it would more... tolerable, I guess. I'm really interested to hear what the Fiio X3 will offer for its pricepoint, even if, shall we say, it might cast the AK100 in a less than a flattering light.

Even on the H120 series, which is fairly old now by digital standards, I can get art work. Why they don't do it for something that should be light years ahead of the HXXX series, is, well, strange and lame. I am looking to get a AK100 in the very near future. Will listen and burn it in as stock and then will modify it to bypass the 22ohm resistor.

If I had one, I'd zip you a clone. I'm sure someone here could help. Easeus Todo Backup is a nice free utility you could use on both ends. http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Todo-Backup-Free/3000-2242_4-10964460.html If you don't get help, this should work. I'd still save my files as before.

It works fine for me. I don't know if you are on pc or mac but I am sure there are similar programs on either.
When I buy an album digitally or rip a cd, The artwork is rarely embedded, some places do it right but not usually. There is always artwork provided but that's it.

So part of my process for storage is to tag everything how I like it and embed the artwork in the mp3 file itself.
I take the artwork and resize it to 400x400 or something like that, and then I use mp3tag to actually embed the artwork into the file itself, not just the folder where the files live.

Maybe you already know this, I am not sure if it works for flac or alac, I don't have much of those to worry about.
I remember reading something about using different id3 versions for flac, but I could be wrong since I haven't gone down that route yet.

Either way, it's working for me on every album the way I do it.

I'm using almost all lossless, being on a Mac, that's ALAC by default, but I converted a number of files to FLAC (similar issues) before the new version with ALAC/AAC support became available. I embed all my artwork at the same size 600x600 semi-manually, and I can verify it by looking at the filesystem, which doesn't use a database or cares about cover art in the folder, it's in each individual track, if not, the thumbnail would show a generic icon.

Opening it in 3 different players besides iTunes, all of which do NOT share any kind of cover art database, plus a dedicated tagging app: the covers appear for each individual track as well. (I'd also mention my iPods, but since they tie into iTunes, it'll be taken care of no matter what anyway.)

I even tested a couple of the ones with issues independently in Windows (and not iTunes either), again no problem displaying the cover for each individual track... the only one it doesn't work on is the AK100?!?

If the size was an issue, then why is it working for a few that I absolutely know has the art at 600x600px because I scaled it myself? I thought maybe PNG vs JPG, but they are all JPG. That's what makes the issue so frustrating: what is the cause? Not that a decent codec implementation should have these issues...
