Hi All,
Late this year my family and I will be moving to Ethiopia. This means our current hi-fi and portable systems (which are not worth taking) will need to stay. Unfortunately you can't buy good speakers/amps in Ethiopia. I'm after advice on what lightweight set up to buy now and take with us.
Key considerations:
The lighter the better as we'll be taking everything on the plane
Source will primarily be a variety of MP3 players and phones(Sansa Clip, Cowon iAudio7, iphone, nexus) & laptops
Genre of music: Kids music, rock, classical, gospel (a bit of everything really)
Type of usage: Background music primarily
Room size: likely to be in a lounge room
Options considered:
Powered bookshelf speakers - Audioengine A2
Pros: self contained, lightweight
Cons: Audio quaility(?)
Other options:
Passive speakers with a small amp
Cost: $400-500 (unless convinced otherwise :) )
Thanks for your thoughts.
Kym
