T-Peos H-100 Hybrid IEM Appreciation Thread - Page 65

Interesting. I actually have an adapter coming next week thanks to fred_fred on ebay. I shall see how it compares with the S9. I"m thinking that bass you're talking about may possibly be because the extra impedance is correcting the bass roll off S9 has with low impedance IEM's. I do like my treble though, I also like keeping my signal direct and clean with no interruptions in the signal path. I'll see how this adapter reacts, however I cannot see myself using one fulltime.

I thought the treble on the H-100 was a tad bright and on some songs even caused harshness and the adapter fixed that. Although on the S9 on 40 volume which is maxed, its just at the right volume but sometimes I like to boost the volume when it comes to the climax of the song but I hope my C3 or Zune HD will be louder than the S9, if not then I wont be using it fulltime either. Althought performance will vary from different sources.

Yeah it's like my CK4+ mid range is to bright and tiring over long sessions with H-100.

Get's this peak going on in the upper mid range that screams a little at times, the main problem is bass on that player just isn't up to speed on CK4 with H-100. There's something not right going on there and that pairing. C3 though its pure heaven, perfect match, get's this tone and rhythm going on I cannot find in anything else.

C3's treble will be a touch snappy compared to S9. I hope it's going to be ok for you, make sure you get a good tip selection going on Vlooienuker, I believe you can find the treble you need from different tips rather than using adapters in your case. GR07 tips for sure, will help out there. I think the low volume thing would be a killer for me using an adapter, then there's the drain on batter life etc etc. I'd like to see how they perform with say 20ohms added 32 +20 = 52ohms.

PS I did put a return address on those tips. I just don't know dude. There were a good x10 sets in there too. Everything from my collection that wouldn't fit me I sent. Better luck next time I guess. mad.gif

Well if there was a return address maybe they will send it back to you unless it something happened. I guess it could affect battery life because there is more ohms but hopefully not by a big margin. Anyone knows when the GR08 is out?

Vlooienuker, which adapter did you order? Is it the same as phlashbios ordered, from eBay?

And H20Fidelity, that adapter you ordered from fred_fred isn't listed at his eBay store, is it?

No it's not. I'll explain via PM.

Its actually smaller than I expected when I saw it for the first time in person and although it adds quite a bit to the weight and length of the 3.5mm jack I reckon its worth it. If you have an H-100 and think the mids are too thin or too laid back which I reckon everyone will feel the same then grab one of these from eBay and enjoy your new H-100. I dont know if I'm imagining but bass seems to be tighter and extends deeper down although seems a tad slower... Probably just me.

Who said it was a downgrade or no effect ? I certainly didn't. Clip Zip it tames the trebles but the volume is insufficient. My C2, which by the sounds of it must have a different amplification stage than your S9, it did similar, but I needed max volume and that introduced distortion and noise. The only one where I thought it was of no use and was a downgrade was with the C3, where I thought it tamed the trebles too much.

I bought the more expensive one from awwan because everyone bought it from that eBayer and I did not want to order the other one since I am paranoid and figured it may be a different resistor because it looks different. It was $18

Ok, I see. You ordered this one then: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ETYMOTIC-ER4P-ER4S-RESISTOR-ADAPTOR-3-5MM-PLUG-/290372905689

But that's not that seller's most expensive adapter. Look here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ETYMOTIC-P-S-RESISTOR-ADAPTOR-RIGHT-ANGLE-PLUG-/300374135521

Yes thats the one. Well when I searched there was only that one and another one at $11.

That one is right angled and seems larger so thats probably why its more expensive although I do believe they all sound the same.

Yes, I guess what varies between all the adapters I've seen is the build quality and durability...

I worry a little about the fabric cable over the long-term however since mine is already starting to show a tiny bit of fraying near the Y-split from normal use.

Ok, I haven't really put mine to the test much, I'm sure over time it could be a problem. Mine really don't get much wear and tear so probably not the best example.

How's the fit on these in terms of being able to lie down on a pillow or on your side on a plane? That's the one thing I hate about my TF10 and what I love about Westone W4 or PFE-232.. are they as comfortable as those when lying on the side?

It's about halfway in between for me comfortwise. It is not as comfortable as my old UM3X for that purpose but it's also definitely more comfortable than the TF10 in this regard, though may be comparable if you do the reverse-mod on the TF10 (swapping left and right channels so that it ends up lying more flat/parallel to your ears). I imagine it also depends on how deep these go into your ears and at what angle.
