Hi mate - Thanks much for your detailed response.

 

Even without the Comply's I've loving artists like Acoustic Alchemy, Bonnie Raitt, Sting and Abraxas Pool with the H-100KGs and the foam filled blue core tips included in the box. I can't imagine what lead me to start reading this thread but many thanks to Techno Kid for kicking it off! Sorry they don't do the trick for him but there are many other IEM's to use. Each to his own... 

 

I'm sure Techo Kid knows how to get a good seal. Just to make sure I'm getting the most from my players I just cleaned the 3.5mm ports with stripped down Q tips and 70% rubbing alchohol. My refurb had some black gunk that came out so maybe they'll sound even better once I get the time to test them.

I just looked them up...you are correct, H-100 sounds absolutely magical...

I'm going to break my self imposed blackout in this thread for a good reason, as today I went and listen to some HQ vinyl rips in FLAC I have, from the discography of some of my favourite bands (TOOL, R.A.T.M., among others). These rips always sounded very good in my full size Hifi system, making my B&W speakers really shine, giving them that warm touch of analogue sound that other source material just can't do! But these rips never sounded good with headphones/IEM's, as they always sounded too muffled and lacking in detail... That was, of course, until today! I was very surprised with what I was hearing with the H-100 from these rips, as they sounded much like my B&W speakers, warm and organic, full of energy and very musical! And the detail is all there! All of that from these tiny $120 IEMs...

 

If anyone else here has some of those FLAC HQ vinyl rips at hand, I strongly advise you to listen to them from a good source, amp and the H-100!

 

And I'll stop writing about them right now, before I become insultous again...

That's just what I realized today. These earphones don't really sound like earphones (or headphones for that matter). The soundstage makes them sound more like a really, really good speaker system.

 

So this may be another factor. If you're a headphone person, you may find some major faults in H100 or simply not like them. If you're a speaker person, you may prefer this style.

 

I for myself was never really impressed with any headphones in any category ever. No matter how good or airy the headphones are, they can't provide the right feeling one can get from good speakers IMHO. I use phones only because I don't have the space (or money) for a full system. So I'm really enjoying the speaker-like soundstage of H100.

 

BTW why the blackout?

A bit thin yeah albeit not that hollow sounding. I like Nadia Ali and Susana but they didn't sound as good as Emma Hewitt... No one does. 

Putente I did hit up some Frank Zappa vinyl rips and also one of his AU Gold remasters and very much what you describe. Also a Mercury Living Presence label Stravinsky as well as a couple other Mercury ones ( Mercury=top notch). Have yet to try the actual Mercury Vinyl I have it's in the bedroom setup

 

If you like the speaker-type cohesion of the sound try out an inline crossfeed cable ( very tiny ) It will bleed a tiny bit of each channel at certain frequencies into the opposite side at a certain time delay to mimic what you hear normally while listening to speakers.

 ---one ear hears what the other side does but less with a slight delay. It's a well proven thing based upon a solid design, some people swear by it and some dislike it.

If you didn't want to invest in the $15 for one on fleabay ( fred_fred_2004 [also a member in here ] is where i get mine ) you can try to find a software version plugin for your particular media player.

The cables work best if installed before the amplfier, got mine on the desktop setup after the DAC and before the Integrated amp,

off the portable it's between the Cowon and the amp.

You will lose a couple db overall ( not much ) but no question in my mind it's worth it.

Won't work well if it's just off a portable with the headphones plugged into that straight.

LOL! I'm pretty much done here, I think we all know how I feel about H-100.

Using the avatar is just putting icing on the cake really, taking my wacky sense of humour to the highest level possible. (some get it, other don't) You won't be seeing me in this thread as often, *can I hear cheering?* I feel it can run it's own course. I was swept in the moment when I first heard H-100 and still think they're friggen great! But that initial novelty has worn off, now I can just enjoy the music with all that technical ability as a bonus.

Highly recommend to others, I don't just sell everything else I own for nothing!

PS I'm terribly sorry some aren't getting a seal.

The BEST Hybrid IEM to date? You bet...at least until GR08 is released perhaps 

Isn't the tralucent 1 plus 2 a hybrid?

 

I think I know what you mean. I love listening to 24/192 with my 1Plus2. Simply amazing sound I get. I can easily pick out the differences between the 16/44 tracks. You just get lost in the music. So much detail across the board. Realism...

Sounds nice :). I'd be interested in demoing them ;).
