EDIT: I also didn't compare the K240S to the HD600 or HD650 so I don't know about that either.

That's good to hear, I'll try to find a good quality pair of Sextett's eventually, I want to hear the old AKG sound. I have two headphones I prefer to the HD 600, the K712 and the DT 150. It's not by a large margin but I prefer them slightly though I do have moods fairly often where the HD 600 is the only headphone I want to listen to.

kman 1211 I dont find the studio to have ragged treble. maybe thats due to the velour pads of the mk2

I've owned both the Studio and MKII and I used the pleather pads on both, the velours(the MKIIs come with both pleather and velour) are too uncomfortable, both had a really nasty spike in the 10khz region that physically fatigued my ears and caused sharp pain in my ears.

ahh okay. I'm fine with that peak out of the schiit modi/vali stack. It doesn't really bother me

I haven't tried them on my Lyr 2, I am willing to give them another chance, if the treble spike is tamed I wouldn't be bothered and I will love the headphone, it was just the treble that ruined them long term for me. If I get them again it will be the Studios as they look better and are cheaper. The Lyr 2 on low gain makes for a pleasent listening experience with brighter phones.

also I tend to like a little sparkle around 10khz so its actually better to me with a slight peak than a slight dip in that region

I've only heard one Grado and I had no issues with it's treble, granted it's an old pair that doesn't sound like the current models. I actually like a bit of sparkle in the 10khz myself, it's just when it's harsh I can't tolerate it. The DT 990 was less fatiguing to my ears than the K240 was for example and the DT 990 is known to be a treble cannon, it was definitely bright in the 10hkz region.

No I haven't tried either of them. I've read they are very harsh though.

you have no idea. The K240 doesn't bother me in any way... The MDR-V6/7506 was just... Vocals were unnaturally thin, and cymbal crashes had me reaching for my volume down button.

Hi guys. This is my first post in this forum.

I bought this bad boy 2 days ago for 70 dolars include shipping.  I could buy Logitech G930 for same price but I decided this. I know they are not in the same class. One of these for gaming the other one is for music.

I hope I won't regret. :)

You need a good amp for them though. Out of an ipad mini they sound thin and lack volume at the same time. They are legions better out of the schiit modi/vali stack.

Is laptop sound output ok for this? I haven't bought amp yet.

No, I would get something like a sennheiser hd598/558/518 if it was for a laptop only
