The E17K is actually coming out in a while if you want to wait a bit. Its just an updated and revised E17. That's a few months though, so meh.

It'll probably be a few months before I have money, lol. So it will probably be out by the time I can buy it, even still, I saved both suggestions for when I get to a time when purchasing either will be possible. Thanks again for the recommendations.

So far I've been loving these AKG's. They're my first real set of audiophile headphone and they sound great when I run them through my E11:atsmile:. I heard that the K240's go really well with tube amps and I've been looking to get one. As far a tube amps under $150 go, I've been looking at Little Dot I+ http://www.amazon.com/Little-Dot-6JI-standard-Headphone/dp/B00A2QM5O6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1406503236&sr=8-2&keywords=little+dot and Schiit Vali http://www.amazon.com/Vali-Subminiature-Hybrid-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B00HAOSDOO. I've been leaning towards the the Little Dot I+ (mainly because of its looks) but if the Vali pairs better with the K240's then I'll go with that one. I'd love to hear you all's opinion on either of those amps or any other recommendation that you guys have.

I'm planning on getting a DAC later on down the road for about $50, if it makes a difference. I've been looking at the new FiiO E10k http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10K-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B00LP3AMC2/ref=pd_cp_e_0 or Stoner Acoustics UD110v2 or (UD120 when it comes out). I wouldn't mind getting any recommendations for DAC's either.

Any recommendations for DACs?? The Schiit Modi looks promising, but I kinda want something a bit cheaper (college budget and all that fun stuff). The only thing I'm looking for in the DAC is that it be USB powered so that I can move it with my laptop.

It's a bit above my current range but I guess I can save up for a bit and get the DAC while I continue to do more digging on tube amps. Thanks for the help bro!

the ODAC is one of the nicest bang for your buck DAC's imo.

I just got a pair for $70 from amazon. I like the sound, however the bass needs some improvement. I cut out some dynamat to apply to the back of the driver and onto the plastic housing that holds the driver. This mod is inspired by Markl mod that been done to my Denon D2000. The bass is now tighter and more controlled and less unwanted vibration from the plastic housing. The mid and treble were also improved. This mod however requires unsoldering of the driver and cutting a lot of holes in the dynamat to custom fit onto the plastic housing.
