Now Taking Preorders!! FREE 2nd Day in the U.S. on all Preorders. Arriving November 1st, 2012

Burson has now pushed their uncompromising "3 in 1" concept to a whole new level.

It is named it The Conductor. Its a Headphone Amp, a Preamplifier and a DAC. What more can we ask for???

The Conductor features a new Variable Output Stage (VOS).

It enables the Conductor to match well with any type of headphone. Be it easy to drive high sensitivity in ear monitors or open back moving-coil designs.

It can drive anything including the latest planar magnetic headphones with ease.

Combining the VOS with our new generation of step attenuator, volume control is always smooth and synergy is always perfect.

On the digital front, the Conductor features a 24bit/192khz Tenor TE8802 USB receiver working in Asynchronous Transfer Mode.

It also accepts coaxial and Toslink inputs supporting 32bit/192khz audio files.

On the analogue front, it accepts analogue input via RCA and outputs in 6.35mm headphone jack, line-level output (DAC) and variable output

(preamp). With such versatility, the new conductor works perfectly with any audio system.

I KNEW it!  As soon as they came out with their Soloist headamp and placed it under a new Musician Series product category, I just knew the rest of their line was due for an upgrade.  As someone in the market right now for a DAC/pre/headamp at just this price range, and of course a Head-Fi nut too, I am PUMPED!

Also, I want to point out how the copy states right at the very outset which USB receiver Burson picked, even before any other hardware or specs details, lol.  Trying to avoid the controversy of last time I guess!

It is called the Timekeeper. It is a new amp design from Burson that will match the footprint size of the Conductor. Details to follow soon on this:)

A review was posted today on 6moons.

Thanks for the heads-up, sobrietywarrior.

That sure was fast - clearly the folks at Burson have come to rely on 6moons as a vociferous, credible advocate.  Which is fine by me - Srajan also did wonders to boost ALO's recognition and selling power, and still does wonders to boost Head-Fi's reach and influence in the global audiophile community.  Plus, I just love Srajan's review style.  He says more than the highly general analysis, ie, "this really expensive machine does more or less what it's supposed to do, sounds great," and continues on to describe the aesthetic ethos produced by its character and sonic distinctions.  Plus, he's funny.

Correct. Here is some info on the amp I received from Burson.

Timekeeper It is a 75W per channel Class-AB power amp which can be bridged into 250W per channel in Mono-Block configuration.  Measuring 265 x 250 x 80 mm the Timekeeper is the same size as the HA-160D & Conductor.  The RRP of the Timekeeper will be 2200USD.

The Timekeeper is very important to us and it has taken us nearly 5 years to get it right.  It is unique in the follow ways.

1. There is a growing community of desktop audiophiles.  These people are looking for high-end equipment that are desktop size. And at this compacted size, no other amplifier can compete with the Timekeeper.  To put this into prospective, all other power amps of this size are Class-D amps.  Class-D amps were designed for the car audio and sound horrible.  The only other properly designed amplifier of this size is the Korean Bakoon 11R and they could only achieve 15W per channel and priced at 7,000USD.

2. Usually, Mono-Block power amps only accept XLR (balanced) input.  This means that if a customer want to upgrade to Mono-blocks then he much also change his DAC to one with XLR outputs and his Preamp to one with XLR input/outputs.  As you can imagine, it could be an expensive exercise.  Our Timekeeper however can accept both RCA and XLR input even when bridged.    This means the customer can keep his beloved DAC and preamp when upgrading to Mono-Block with the Timekeeper.  The Timekeeper is probably the first in the industry to achieve this function.

What is the point of a power amp? I see that it's paired with the Conductor above.

For desktop speakers or smaller room speaker systems:)

Ah I see. Then what is a monoblock?

Monoblock means you can bridge the 2 channels of the amp and use it as a single "Monoblock" amplifier. Doing this results in a higher powered 250 watt amplifier. Thus you then use 2 amps instead of one for bigger more power hungry speakers.
