Need help to pick new IEM's

I've been looking for some good IEM's in the price range $100-150 and narrowed it down to either the HiFiMAN RE-262 or Brainwavz B2.

 

They are going to be used with an iPod classic 7G, FiiO L9 and iBasso D-Zero.

I'm currently using Denon AH-C360 but recently I've realised that they suck ass. Way too bassy and the mid/treble gets kind of buried. So I want my new IEM's to be wider and clearer, but still not lack too much bass.

 

HiFiMAN RE-262 here for $159 (including shipping).

Brainwavz B2 here for $129.50 (free shipping and a Fiio E6).

 

Or maybe someone has some other pair in the same range to recommend?

You've picked two excellent IEMs that both get high ratings here, as you probably already know.  The only thing that would swing me away from the RE262 is the high impedance.  Pairing it with the D-Zero will probably be absolutely necessary, because without some amp the RE262 will be way under-powered by almost any DAP.  Also, part of the choice for you may be whether you want the over-the-ear design of the B2 or the cable-down design of the RE262.

Yes, I read through the whole thing and picked the ones that looked most promising in terms of sound rating and price, then I read thorughly, screened through all pairs and the result were these two.

 

The high impedance is not a problem as the iPod is always hooked up to the D-Zero (will be replaced when my wallet lets me dig a little deeper...).

 

I prefer the cable-down design, but I might wanna try over-the-ear. Can you wear the B2 cable-down too?

You CAN wear the B2 cable down, but due to the angle of the B2 nozzles, you will probably have to wear the phones "backwards," L earphone in your right ear, and vice versa.  I think the nozzle angle will cause the B2 housing to stick out from your ears too much if you wear them in the correct ear.  I think, not sure, that if you have Rockbox on your iPod, there may be a channel swap option?? 

 

I've not ever tried the B2 or the similar DBA-02 -- my experience with over-the-ears is with some older Shure E3C that were similar.
