EDIT: Hisound Audio to Release New DAP Product-Line (NOVA with micro SD card support)

I just got my unit in as well as a Teclast X30. So far the N1 looks quite nice. The UI isn't half bad yet it isn't the greatest either. I managed to freeze it up a couple times trying to get things sorted. I most definitely like the UI on the Nova better although they are similar as well. I notice on both players it is not a good idea to use 64 GB SDXC cards as it makes this weird vibrating noise.... Very annoying and I thought it was a deal breaker if the player did this normally. Both exhibit this noise with that card with the X30 being louder. I do notice that vibrating noise all happens when the screen is on. But it was always apparent with the 64 GB card even when the screen shuts off. With the 32 GB card it is only apparent when the screen is on now, strange.... Both units have hiss on them. The Nova has more hiss but slightly less hiss than the Studio V 3rd ANV. The Nova sounds more detailed and less constrained. The X30 sounds a bit muddy in comparison and lacks dynamics. I'm sure this is in part due to the amp stage hisound uses. I also notice the Nova N1 gets quite a bit louder than the X30 at max volume. As a matter of fact I can put it on volume 1 on certain tracks and that is more than enough for my 1Plus2s.... Someone had commented on the bass in comparison to the Studio V 3rd ANV and I have to agree. The bass on this player is very nice, very well controlled and has a deep texture to it that even rivals the Studios Vs.

One problem I notice on the Nova though is it seems to still use power when turned off. I can still hear hiss with the player turned off and this only completely stops if you do a hard reset with a needle. So I think they need to fix this to ensure longevity of the battery. Unless my unit is defective. Edit: Never mind, seems the player stays on for a short while and thereafter cuts off power completely as I heard it pop a minute or two after powering it off....

I'll continue burning them both in and give more comparison later but so far the N1 is clearly better to my ears, sound quality wise. Still I much prefer my Studio V 3rd ANV even to the Nova N1. Not sure how the N3 will fair though.

Nice the N3 actually looks better than I thought it would in those pics :). I wonder how it sounds in comparison to the N1 and the Studio V 3rd ANV...

duuude you got your N3 already? Who did you order it from?

I'm some kind of small distributor here. So yeah I get the n3 faster :D .

Well, they're on different league. The sound signature is somehow a bit close, but the refinement is definitely different. The Studio V 3rd has a more transparent, clearer, more refine sounding, and of course better power. The studio V has a better refine in reproducing every details on music very well. Far better than the N3. But on the other hand, the price of the Studio V 3rd annv is double the n3's price. So yeah, they're on different league.

The n3 is actually pretty nice on its price. You can get a transparent sounding, nice clarity with good separation, wide staging, and quite balance tonality. Definitely better than ipod :D. I think N1 and N3 is a nice improvement from the RoCoo P and RoCoo BA. In the other hand, the RoCoo P and BA have bigger power compared to the n1 and n3. But on the other side, their sound is quite muddy and they're not transparent enough when compared to the n1 and n3.

One thing that I don't like from N3, the power is not as big as N1. The maximum volume (volume 32) on N3 is same to volume 29/30 on N1 (well actually the case is same with RoCoo P and RoCoo BA, RoCoo P has bigger power than RoCoo BA. And so do the N1 and N3 :D ).

I can't wait to hear how the N3 compares to the N1.

It's too bad that there was no comparison before the 20% student offer from hisoundUK ended...

N1 has bigger power than N3. Their sound signature is kinda almost same with the N1 has more mids and power than N3, but less transparent and less refine than the N3. On the other hand, the N3 has more transparent and clarity than the N1. Definitely one level about the N1 in term of sound quality despite the power is not as big as N1. I heard some rumor that the N3's firmware will be updates somewhere on March. And the rumor is the N3's gain will be higher with newer firmware. :D

More Photos :D

They need to update the low volume issue on the studio v 3rd anv. Too.

Whoa low volume ?  The max is 31, and I sure hope you don't listen to it even near that high.  For casual listening on my 3rd anniv studios I got like 20-22.

I am interested in the N3; I really do like the my 3rd gen studios, but something as simple as not being able to go back to my playlist by going back is really annoying me.  I'm sure a simple firmware update can fix that, but yeah...  For ex: you are listening to a song from an album, you can't just go back to browse the other songs in the album from a click back.  You actually have to go all way out of the menu and navigate back to your album to pick another song.  Some guy on here mention that the n3 and studios are in a different league, but I am still really thinking of picking up the n3.

I think we have some varying opinions on the players. I mean I agree the Studio V is definitely the overall better player than the N1 (I'm not sure about the N3). But I can't really say the difference in sound quality is very big even between the N1. I mean I actually enjoy the N1 quite a lot to be honest with my 1Plus2. I prefer the bass on the N1 over the Studio V which sounds almost rolled off (just at the brink of it) or lacking texture and depth in comparison. The treble and mids I agree the Studio V is clearly better but still not night and day. The Studio V has a bigger sound stage and more extension in the treble. The vocals on the Studio V are more intimate while the N1 focuses more on the mids (in front of the vocals) but the presentation really goes well together. I really think the extra premium on the Studio V comes from the build quality, battery life and the amp feature on the unit. Sound quality is still top notch regardless though. What I'd really love is to have the N1s bass quality combined into the Studio Vs signature. That would be just killer!
