I know styling is a very individual thing, but if Denon are going after the hipster market, hipsters must really dig ugly headphones. I dont have an issue with the styling on the D2K-D7K range, but those brown earpads with white cups - pass me a bucket, please ....

Ew. I think they hired folks from monster to create the new design. rolleyes.gif

oooof

Not my thing, but I'm not puking on my keyboard. Their discontinued line was much more appealing, though. Kinda' ticks me off because I just got into Denon with the D2000 and now they're changing the goods.

Fraid so - I have never had any particular interest in Denon phones. Wildly overpriced here.

No, if they did that they would at least look sleek.

These were announced a while ago (like a month) - they don't seem to be gaining much traction here. And like you said - I think targeting hipsters is exactly where they're at. Very much going the direction of "let's rip off Beats and do what Beats does because Beats sell" and ignoring that they had one of the best selling audiophile parts on the market (I mean seriously, unless Fostex decided they wanted more money or otherwise can't produce the old line, discontinuing the D2000 would be like discontinuing the M50, Pro4AA, or HD 600 - it just doesn't make good sense (and the Pro4AA may seem like a random inclusion there, but the reason I mentioned it is because Koss actually *did* discontinue it, and fans complained so much that they had to bring it back - I guess Denon isn't listening though)).

Supposedly the D7100 don't live up to the D7000's lineage, but offer substantially better isolation. So I'm guessing it's a real mixed bag. I don't think $1300 should be a mixed bag though. redface.gif

Those brown pads though - man I agree, those are *horrible* looking. blink.gif

HD600 is EOL here in Oz - I dont think Sennheiser is making the headphone any more. A-T and Beyer have both discontinued models that I thought were worth keeping - I guess that's commercial reality when you have a market obsessed with new and sexy gear.
