PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player - Page 11

Some more info from here

http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f8-general-forum/neil-young-announces-launch-ponomusic-19703/

100 - 500 albums. Apparently the 1000 - 2000 was a mistake.

The DAC chip used is the ESS ES9018

Interestingly the press release on Computeraudiophile quotes 100-500 hi res albums depending on resolution and length of recording. This seems on a par with other systems. The 1000+ albums quoted earlier would seem to be an error...

Apparently the 1000 - 2000 was on the original PR. He edited it later.

It's here--https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1003614822/ponomusic-where-your-soul-rediscovers-music?ref=recently_launched

Some extra info I found--internal memory is 64gb, not 128gb. It does come with a 64gb microsd card, though.

Couldn't find any real specifications on the audio circuitry, only the usual b.s. Would be really interested in seeing how much power it outputs.

I think I'd rather have an actual toblerone

The latest is news is no DRM.

But I agree with OPs sentiment.

Protip : for God's sake dont search for Young Pono at work. Or anywhere really.

Setting aside the DRM issue, this reminds me of how people felt about Apple's eco and operating systems 6 or 7 years ago. In the final analysis, no one is required to buy in, but this whole thing may serve to get the attention of big companies (giving them the idea of raising the bar {in paying attention to audio quality} themselves). That's a good thing.
