Nice! I also had a watercooled rig, but now prefer to overclock my headphone gear and turntable... :D

Thanks, guys.

That looks really great, nice work there! Regret now cancelling my balanced headphone cable...

Some new shocking news, the emotiva sounds better than a vintage mcintosh 200w rms amp with the he500. It's perfect for the he500.

lol I actually just got back from staying with him for a couple days.

Update: The modi pairs really well with the Emotiva, IDK what people were saying before about it being a bad pairing. Especially after I get jergpads, the treble will smooth out and it'll be a perfect rig smily_headphones1.gif

I don't know those people! ;)

My funny story for the day is this.  I've spent  a few $$$ on tubes so far since I got my Woo WA22.  My goal is to get my HE500 to sound good on the WA22.  I finally got a tube combo I really like; TS 5998 for power, Ken Rad VT231 for driver and sophia for rectifier.  Nice mid, high, quite punchy/weighty low.  Today, I plug my HE500 into the Mini-X and said to myself "Holy shiit, this is how my WA22 sounds now with the upgraded tube combo"  :D

I just tallied up my ebay bills.  I could have bought 3 Mini-X with the $ I just spent on tube.  Go figure.

Not the Modi, the Magni is the one that makes the HE-500 sound a bit shrill. For $69 more, the Emotiva is a much better buy.

Why not the Lepai?

Why not? $20 is less than a Skullcandy garbage iem. Makes a great 2nd room or semi portable amp.

Hate it all you want, but I think it sounds great, especially for the price. It just doesn't have the refinement of the mini x.

The Geek Pulse X fully upgraded should be my endgame once it is released, hopefully.

Wonder when I'll get my 500's back.. And what it'll cost. So far shipping has been 50 dollars alone.

I am a fan of the Class T amps. The Lepai has tone controls with a bypass switch and true balanced output. Connect a pair of balanced headphones and be amazed. Seriously. There's very little difference between my TA2024 based amp and the Mjolnir. Of course I'm an old pilot so maybe my hearing isn't what it should be.

That's good to know Rob about your opinion on Class T's with your techie background. I wish Emotiva had global distribution dealers but they don't so I'm trying a class T in the meantime to see how it fares on taps.

Didn't even realize it was a true balanced Push/Pull amp. Considering most balanced headphone amps start at $500+, that's an awesome tidbit of knowledge to know.

All of the Class T's are the same way correct? 2020, 2021, and 2024?

I noticed that recently this thread has become an exclusive HE-500 with Emotiva discussion. How does the Emotiva pair with dynamics? Is it easy to blow things up? I got the HD800 coming in and would like to see how my Quickie+Emotiva system sounds through it but I don't want to risk damaging it.
