It was $50, and $57 with shipping. I think you can request a color and he will tell you whether he can do it or not. I consider this to be a very decent price if you were to compare it to the price of a whole new cable just for the amp. Also, it was built and shipped out within 2 days of the order being placed.

So I finally got my lcd2.2 and am using it with the Emotiva right now....

:deadhorse:

teds cable works superbly

The emotiva is a way strong for the lcd2.2. I dont know if you can see where the volume is at but it is way tooo loud there. I haven't spent much time with it but from having the emotiva before I can tell that the lcd2.2 is a lot more easy to power than I thought and the emotiva is overkill. But one thing. ...when the volume is up and no music is playing there is .....

NO SOUND NO HISS NO ANYTHING...

The t50 modd and the hd650 I had If remember right had to be higher on the volume knobb to match loudness but there was a tolerable(didn't bother me but was there) hiss or air I heard as soon as I plugged them in.

The lcd2.2 takes a slight turn of the volume to get loud. I would have to spend time with it and another amp to find differences but for right now I am satisfied. I can atleast say I found my headphone and don't regret selling the he-500 for the lcd2.2. I would do it 3 times over.

Also not factoring in costs of speaker taps (how much would decent quality speaker taps cost?)

$275 is roughly 290 AUD after conversion. And that $50 promo Emotiva has probably won't last for too much longer. Is this the lowest it's been?

You can get some speaker taps made by several DIYers here on head-fi.

what headphone are you using?

speaker taps cost 50 ish plus or minus depending on what you get. I think it would be worth it. There are other affordable options out there but not so tried and tested as the emotiva.  Another one is the audio gd stuff but the ones close to this price will not be as smooth sounding as the emotiva. There is someone( Lorspeaker ) who uses this: http://www.amazon.com/SA-50-TDA7492-Digital-Amplifier-Adapter/dp/B008XTDBYW

75usd!!!

way more powerful than you need and reports no hissing with the lcd2 as well... I don't know if that needs a preamp or how they use it but I am sure a pm wont hurt to ask.

Yeah it is, trying to get it a bit lower... see what they can do

Have you purchased it? I feel like I'm the only one in Oz who's going to have one if I buy it lol

Any DIYers on head-fi I should know about?

No I didn't purchase it at the time - I was quoted $330 or so at the time. I think one or two have ordered it for passives but unsure if there are here on head-fi. @Spurxii considered the Emotiva but has a T amp. I think a TP60 or similar. That is another budget friendly amp.

DIYers. @Wje comes to mind. He's done a lot of DIY work. Check the DIY Cable thread for other tips and suggestions. http://www.head-fi.org/t/676402/diy-cable-questions-and-comments-thread/765#post_9948708

I am surprise that you have to turn it up for the  t50 mod from the LCD2.2 and they both have the same flat impedance of 50 ohms. Glad that you have it working.

Been using HE-500 with Emotiva. Just discovered the world of preamping for a speaker amp. The Bottlehead Crack+Emotiva really takes it to another level. Adds tube warmth to the sound without taking away any transparency or details. I went ahead and ordered the Quickie because it's only $99 and it's suppose perform even better than the Crack as a preamp. This is seriously challenging to be part of a package deal to go along with the Emotiva if it really sounds better than Crack+Emotiva.

OMG YES! LET ME KNOW HOW THE QUICKIE IS!!! I was planning on ordering two quickies with my cousin and me together and I was scared of pairing it with the Emotiva. Please give HONEST impressions because I am VERY curious about this combo.

That's no problem. I was looking into the far future with this combo. I don't even have my Emotiva yet... Might be getting it quite soon though!

Nice!  Funny you mention the Crack + a speaker amp.. I wrote some comments on another thread about the very same type of combo.  The Crack really is a wonderful (and capable) preamp.. I'm tempted to pick up the Quickie.. but it'll have to wait.
