Filters should perhaps do the trick.

Hi,

I had ground loop when my hs80m monitors were plugged into the fiio e9, as well as directly into the Titanium HD. I found the only way I could control it was by using a ground loop isolator, far from ideal.

I'm assuming my monitors will do the same plugged into the mini, Will check once some replacement tweeters arrive.

Looking at the attenuators, the reviewer mentioned with too much output there could be an odd panning of sound, this is what I experience with the sound clip I shared above, pans to the left.

Will have to pick a pair up.

Why do you want more power?  What are you using a 200 watt amp for - headphones?

The thing with attenuators is highly controversial. It does do something to the sound though. What it does and the extent of which is pretty much setup/ear-dependent.

I never had ground hum/ground loop issues with any of my gears so I can't commend on that.

I did had a (very) faint hiss with the He-500 + the Emotiva, but none with the He-6. But then that was with a source hotter than normal (QuteHD and its 3V output). No hums with any of my speaker amps though.

Minor issues. Back to listening :)

The stereo imaging improvement coming from a Fiio E9 (was my first ever amp), is breathtaking.  This amp really does breathe life into music, its feels weighted, before it felt lifeless.  I'm so gLad I bought this amp and it's all down to the head-fi community.  gs1000.gif

lol.  +100.  Though, I am interested how it would turn out with that class T amp with the HE500.  Honest impression please. biggrin.gif

Pity I no longer have my Trends Audio TA10.1 integrated amp. Would have made for an interesting comparison with the Emotiva. I also had a Rotel RA971 Mk2 which would have been interesting at 60Wpc.

It's actually 160w x2 10%THD @ 4ohm :)

Datasheet on the amp chip here:

http://www.st.com/web/en/resource/technical/document/datasheet/DM00044235.pdf

100w @10% THD 8ohm turns into 75W 8ohm at <.1 THD, and probably 60W at 0.05 like the Mini-X. This is higher than the Mini-X, for almost half the price. Lepai amps are also very moddable. It could potentially be quieter noise floor wise (internal gain switches inside).

If the noise floor and other factors equal or better the Mini-X, it would be the new value amp champ for the HE-500. Nevermind value, it could potentially be excellent for it, potentially. Why pay double for the same performance if that is the case?

absolutely agree with you there.

Does anybody use Jriver media centre with their He-500's and Emotiva Mini? For those of you who do, do you use Jrivers Crossfeed plugin?

I've only just realised since receiving the Amp that crossfeed (set to standard) has been on.  Turning if off has narrowed the soundstage slightly and the bass has increased too.

Playing around with Crossfeed off/on a few times I think i prefer it on, so looking around the net for other crossfeed plugins I stumbled across a post over at Jrivers website. One of their beta team mentioned using Redline as an alternative to Jrivers Crossfeed.  I've tried it out, along with the his preset - audio is presented much sharper across all ranges, as if the treble has lifted, things are clearer but ever so slightly more fatiguing too.

I've got myself into a dilemma, Redline seems to clear things up  a notch, isn't it supposed to be a crossfeed plugin? I think my mind is playing tricks.  popcorn.gif

This one is quite popular as well: http://www.toneboosters.com/tb-isone/

Quite a bit of info on the forums for this one if you search for it.

I'll throw in for the tone boosters plug in. IMHE, they are the least intrusive plugins around.

I've been running without crossfeed enabled for a few hours now and I think I've adjusted to the narrower soundstage, it sounds more tight and punchy - which I prefer.  It's staying off.  biggrin.gif

The Emotiva amp emits no heat, no noise, sits quietly and works wonders.   With my previous amp, a Fiio E9, when connected up to the he-500's I really believed they sounded amazing as a pair, I couldn't of been more wrong, this combo is much better.  The Emotiva seems to be a good all rounder with high and low quality tracks, from Flac to 256K Mp3s, the Fiio couldn't provide that balance and was tonally weak once volume reached higher levels.

Just my 2 cents.

As a former E09/E09K owner and now a shameless Emotiva fanboy. I couldn't agree more! biggrin.gif

HE-500 + Emotiva = L3000.gif

That's just what he wants us to do - isn't that right VT?  I've blocked him, instead.
