Just curious, what was wrong with the revision 2 hifiman he-400's and do they sound any different than the current day revision 4 (Updated revision 2) he-400's?

Nothing was wrong, they just tried to improve the design, but it didn't work out so they had to recall it.

So the current revision is EXACTLY the same as the revision 2? I heard somewhere that they had some problems with the r2 so they came up with the r3 which had the treble problem so they went back to an updated revision 2... I could easily be wrong though. But a far as sound goes are they exactly the same?

Thanks.

Yes, sound is the same. I don't see any flaws with the current revision, it's pretty safe to buy. I don't think you're going to change anything in the near future either.

@Sniping, thank you for the reply. I was about to buy a new revision 4 HE-400 but I'm thinking about buying a used revision 2 so if it is exactly the same as the current revision 4, then I think I'm gonna go for the r2...

Oh wait wait, I think we have a misunderstanding, the current HE-400's you buy new right now (Revision 4) sound the same as the revision 2 ones, I'm not sure if I was clear on that.

Hi, there is no revision 4. The HE-400 headphones we are selling now are actually the revision 2.

GAME cards do have a 32ohm series connecting to the output to adjust the sound signature and headphone impedance. The internal resistance (that might be the output impedance you are talking about) is less than 1 ohm.

Could you check about that output impedance again? After listening to both my HM-801 via GAME module versus HM-801 line out via Burson Soloist to Unique Melody Miracle 6 BA driver CIEM, I do think the GAME card has a higher output than 1 Ohm. The treble is a little boosted in from the GAME card compared to the Soloist.

ClieOS has measured the output impedance of the Balanced amp card himself and he says in the below post:
"HM801 has a 10 ohm output impedance (balanced amp module, higher with other amp module)"

And here the Standard and GAME module are stated to have respectively 18 Ohm and almost 34 Ohm output impedance:

The source of the above web page is Sonove, and the graph looks like this for Standard (Default) and GAME (IEM ampcard) modules respectively:

Hi,

I had just received my brand new HE-400 from Headamp.com 2 days ago but to my dismay the right side of my headphone is dead on arrival. I've emailed both customer service at Hifiman and Justin Wilson @ headamp.com but I didn't get any reply. Can anyone help?

Regards,
Chris

I've been trying for several weeks to figure out what happened to a pair of RE-262's that I paid to have fixed (the wires had frayed). I sent them in on November 8 and was sent back a defective pair (the right ear didn't work and the cord was so short it didn't even reach to my waist). Ms. T. instructed me to send those back with a note and she said a working, replacement pair would be sent back immediately.

I sent those back -- on my own dime -- and got confirmation that they were received on November 23 -- more than two weeks ago. I sent an email to Ms. T. on November 29, to which I received no reply, and sent another email to Zhang, Fang, and Ms. T on December 5; I haven't gotten any replies to that one, either.

I'd love to know when I can expect a working replacement. Thanks.

Good luck getting a response to any emails to Ms. T or anyone else at Head-Direct.....I sent many emails regarding my RE272 and not one response....poor customer service there at best!
