Dac/amp to drive AKG K550 and feed poweramp

Hello people,

 

 I am looking for a quality dac/amp that in which I can plug my K550's and which can serve as pre-amp to my Rotel RB991 which in turn are connected to my B&W cm1's.

 

So far have been looking at:

 

Audiolab M-Dac

Cambridge DACmagic plus

 

I would like to keep it (second-hand price) under 400 euro. The ones I have been looking at have a lot of options, which I have no need for really. So I am especially interested in more basic, yet high-quality, dac/amps that serve my needs. Any advise or am I looking at the best in the price range with the Audiolab?

I'd recommend checking also the audio-gd range, as 400 euro will get you a brand new high quality DAC/amp. In particular their just released NFB-5.32 looks intriguing:

Either model would be fine. The K550's doesn't need a lot of amplification.

wow a $500 amp/dac for those seems a little excessive.  I don't think you would notice very big difference between a $100 amp/dac and a $500 one with the K550s.
