Has anyone tried AQ Dragonfly with S3 using OTG

Thread Starter

I was waiting for Iphone 5 and now it has come and way too expensive for me now I am looking at S3 but reading some threads on this email I know S3 SQ is not at par with Iphone 4S or 5. I do have Dragonfly so wondering it would be possible to use it with S3 using OTG,

I know DF is demanding on USB power and wondering if it will drain the battery fast or will it work at all.

The DragonFly could interwork with the Galaxy S3 via a small battery-powered USB hub.

The sound quality should be improved due to the clean 5V provided by the battery, which can also power the smartphone on the go.

Like the DragonFly, the heart of the affordable tiny Stoner Acoustics UD100 is the 24-bit ESS Sabre conversion chip.

I thought S3 already uses a good DAC, is that really necessarily?

According to NZtechfreak, "the E7 sounds dramatically better than the headphone port."

stock S3 > digital audio stream > USB out >> FiiO E7 USB DAC including a Wolfson WM8740 conversion chip > FiiO E7 amp >> a given headphone
"sounds dramatically better than"
stock S3 > digital audio stream > internal DAC including a Wolfson WM1811 conversion chip > internal amp > headphone out >> a same given headphone

"Spent my hour at lunch today listening [to a portable Hi-Fi rig], just totally engrossed. Lots of spontaneous smiles, which for me is the most meaningful metric of sound quality. Cherub Rock literally gave me goosebumps."

Thanks Danba but USB hub will take away the portability from me. I also heard that S3 have a better dac specially the international version but I guess the implementation has not been very efficient which makes the SQ suffer.

NZtechfreak has both international and US S3.
