Brother, I saw this and am saddened by the lack of help. I can't as I'm ignorant of the stat box rig you have. You may need to dive into a stat thread and ask or shoot Spritzer a pm. From the looks of it, your 7 needs to be powered by a speaker amp. If that's the case, your budget will determine your options. A vintage receiver, integrated or amp & volume control will fit your needs.

Welcome to Head Fi and sorry about your wallet (and lack of a fast response).

Nice pics btw.

This would have gotten you more responses had you put it under the home amps forum.

The first thing I'd look for would be any old 1970s/1980s receivers being sold locally at low prices. They should power any SRD-7 adequately. The question is what receiver to pick...

In my case, I use an old Onkyo TX-SV515PRO receiver that was just sitting boxed up in a closet otherwise. It would be better if I could have used that Sansui 8080DB that was also sitting boxed up in a closet, but that's not an option for now. (Neither are those expensive dedicated Stax amps...)

My setup's a bit different (Normal bias SR-Lambda + SRD-7/SB, and back when I had the SR-202, it came with an SRM-212), but it's similar enough.

I use an Apogee Mini-DAC (DAC + volume control) running into a Studer power amp for the Stax Sigma series. It sounds great.

Any decent integrated amp should do.

I'd say that if the stats are like most detailed cans, the better amp will sound better. As to the wattage rating, a stat user of this method could comment. I don't know if they need 5w, 50w, 500w.

In theory, our HE6 should only need 5w @ 50 ohms. We find 15-20w does better.
