A8 and D8 are the ultra model from Yulong Audio - not for public sale but for interested parties, you may pre-order at very limited quantity:

Discussion about A8 and D8 is at this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/586153/yulong-sabre-d18-thread-reviews-impressions-discussion-full-review-added-2-5/510

Pre-order arrangements: (this is subject to change - see Yulong Audio Facebook page for real-time updates: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Yulong-Audio/326982077398065?ref=hl)

1) You may pre-order either D8 or A8 now with non-refundable deposit at the price of Sabre D18 ($699) and A18 ($899) before Oct 31st, 2012 (later than this I highly doubt the order can be added in as circuit board are made at one time only)

2)  If you change your mind after paid non-refundable deposit but before Oct 31st, 2012, you can use the deposit towards any other products offered by Grant Fidelity - including other Yulong product models. After Oct 31st, you cannot change your mind anymore. Deposit is non-refundable so please consider carefully before you place your pre-order. No deposit is refundable as the funds have been immediately transferred to Yulong as confirmation of pre-order.

3) Final price will be confirmed by Yulong but Grant Fidelity guarantees that pre-order buyers will have the same final price as retail price published by Yulong in China, plus free air express shipping from Yulong Audio to your door (worldwide except area that we don't have contracted courier delivery).

4) Balance of the price after deposit is due before shipping. If no balance payment paid after 72 hours of ready-shipping notice by email, it's considered the buyer no longer wish to take delivery then Grant Fidelity has the right to resell the pre-ordered unit to other interested buyer and only refund the deposit minus reselling shortfall amount to the deposit payer once the unit is sold.

If you decide to pre-order, please contact Grant Fidelity through GrantFidelity dot com - contact us page.

Thank you.

Ok - here comes the product information as published by Yulong Audio on their site (sometimes their site is slow as it is hosted in China): - as these products are in development, all features are subject to change without notice (from Yulong's intention to make a killer sounding over the top DAC, it will only go to the 'better' direction if there are changes)

D8 - as quoted from Yulong site "enhanced version of D18 with color display showing status, software precisely controlled ESS9018 Sabre 32bit chip, cost is no object, only for the best sound' - here is the design circuit board - no chassis prototype yet: (click to enlarge image)

A8: as quoted from Yulong site: "fully balanced headphone amp, with two enhanced version of Sabre A18 in one chassis". "cost is no object design concept. I developed this model to pursue my passion, not for commercial purpose. A8 incorporates the experience I have learnt during the design process of Sabre A18 with further enhancement. Two transformers, dual mono channel, class A amplification, extremely high channel separation and signal to noise ratio, plus extremely low distortion. A8 will have big power to drive difficult cans, in the meantime maintain a detailed rich sound."

Note: Please do NOT make feature request with pre-order. We will NOT interfere with Yulong's design process as we believe the designer will make the right choice for the ultimate design goal.

Drool... Ok time to stop partying for a month (thankfully 2 pay cheques inbetween)

Now to decide which one I want :/ the D8 or A8...... I need the A8, but from what I read the D18 + AudioGD Master 5 turned out the best of both worlds (musicality and ruthless clarity)

Question:

What is the minimum and maximum extra we can expect to pay over the deposit?

Unfortunately I don't have a specific number - plus it may cause misunderstanding or confusion. The pricing is completely up to Yulong Audio to decide once the design, parts selection and assembly is done. We understand this is difficult for parties who are interested.

I understand, I was looking for a ballpark figure, with the strict payment deadlines and being a student, it just makes it very difficult at best.

A8 is expected to be $1600-1800, D8 will be less than A8 price... don't hold me for the price - it's a guess at best :)

I found this picture of Yulong’s A8 with some LCD 3’s plugged in.  That is Yulong's workbench.  The picture was posted Jan 07 2013.  It looks like it will be a "larger" unit.  I am going to definitely need to clear some space on my desk for the A8/D8.

I heard a rumor that the D8 is at the final prototype stage.  I can’t wait!!!!

Drool at the D8 on top. I hope these become full production models so I can buy one when I can actually afford it.
