naw but i understand what you are saying. I just feel like it really depends on the track and engineering on the mix.

They're 95% the same. Unless you have them side by side, I doubt people would hear the differences. As for sounding like hell, I don't mean that at all. Just stating that the treble on the 600ohms is clearer and more extended, which makes it more present for me. Considering that the treble is already very omnipotent, I like that the 32ohm isn't as 'clear' up there.

BTW, I've had two 600ohm DT990s, and they sounded identical. The DT990 Pro is the one that has its own balance, yet still having most of the Premium's sound, with a large quantity of bass added.

I owned the 770/600 and what I got was the opposite of what I was expecting. The bass was at 11, so much, I couldn't focus on anything else. It was too strong.

Thats interesting on the bass of the pro's being more. I like the level on my premiums. I have the 250 ohm 770s coming in tomorrow. Kinda looking forward to getting those. Trying them as a present for my pops. Might just keep em and get him another if I like em as much as I hope I will. He, believe it or not, is really into tiesto and other trance/techno/electronic music. I'm hoping these will be perfect for that.

My gawd!! Not normally my genre but I just heard the hidden track at the end of Sara Brightman La Luna CD on the 990 premiums.... sounds like the woman is softly singing into my ear right next to me. Wow... like I said certain tracks with these things -- just bliss....

as far as the 990 pros are concerned , they absolutely fun sounding phones and the best thing available for movie watching, they pair unbelievably well with a yamaha silent cinema embedded reciver,

on the flipside, they are unbelievably bright sometimes and needs a good amp to bring out their most..

On a side note - Malveuax here told me that an E7 could drive a 990 pro, so I purchased an e7 and this doesnt seem to be the case, I think he either got a fake pair or is just trying to have a laugh .. I wouldn't really go behind any suggestion that Malveuax has as far as the dt 990 pro is concerned ..

You sure he didn't say the E17?

The E7 is a very weak amp.

yeah I did ask for his clarifications .. and he insisted on the E7, besides on checking the specs given by FIIO, I found it was rated for cans of 16-300 ohms of impedance..

That sucks. Even the E11 isn't optimal...

E07K is the new one from Fiio with those specs. Don't get the older E7, it's not powerful enough.

My DT990 32Ohm's recently passed away. The right driver finally died. Reading this thread makes me sad because I got somewhere near 2000 hours of pure enjoyment out of them. Although I love the K550 too, I'm half tempted to get another set.

the dt 990 pro can be had new below $200, and if lucky you can also get a cmoy bb with the dt 990 pro under $230 .. however an he 400 is a $400 can .. so price wise I think comparison is unfair... I mean dt 990 pro is for the budget minded folks looking for a all-in-one thing ..

definitely from this review and from all of head-fi its pretty easily noticeable that the he 400 trumps the dt 990 pro ..
