Here I am, slightly agitated since I have to type this whole thing again because my damned phone needed to refresh the whole page and I lost all text. Anyway here I go :D
Well. Negakinu, good news! My re-zero arived this morning!
At first they didn't sound anything like I remembered. Soundstage was all over the place, there was alot of distortion and the treble wasn't as sparkly as it used to be. After one hour of listening these problems have disappeared. It's coming back to my why I loved these back then. The best part is the soundstage. It sounds as if it's coming from far away and I really like that. Live recordings tend to sound like this on their own so they are a little strange to listen to. The sound is really smooth and the treble is starting to get sparkly. The treble is most prominent on these iems but it still is easy to listen to, unlike my K550 which have a really harsh fatiguing treble. Even low male voices sound full and rumbly, something I can't remember but that might be blamed on the sony hybrids I used and which I am testing now. They sound best with the double flange. There is a difference between this version and the previous I have owned. The shells are different and the cable is less stiff. [edit] They are very forgiving too! Somehow even System of a Down sounds good! I don't know if anyone ever heard these recordings but they sound horrible![/edit]
This kind of confirmed for me that burn in a real thing. At least in my ears it is. I always had the impression that headphones tend to change over time but I was never really sure since the theory that brain was burning in made alot of sense too. But this can't be blamed on my brain burning in. I would still be able to atleast hear the distortion. I think it's a combination of the two factors and that, ofcourse, one headphone changes alot while another might barely change.
I'm really glad I got these again, especially since they were only €55 shipped! They sound great but I really hope I can get some tri flanges for cheap. Me experience is that these give the best sound and lowest 'thumping' sound. What I mean by thumping sound, well just imagine this: When I walk I hear a really loud low 'boom' which sounds as if someone puts a plunge on your ears and pulls it really hard at every step. Don't worry! This is how I imagine it would sound, I don't have any actual experience with a toilet plunge on my head, god thank you! Anyway, you can imagine this would make the headphones impossible to use when walking since the sound is around twice the volume of the music itself.
I'm looking forward to comparing it to your re-0 Negakinu! And I'm looking forward to the meet in general too ofcourse :D It's going to be alot of fun! Meeting you guys and all.
