apologies. was taking the info from apple uk
Sure it did. That's simply a factor of output impedance vs the silly load of the TF10. The output impedance is lower than almost any of the Ipods or the Iphone 3g but higher than the Iphone 4 and 4s. Exception would be the Ipod touch 5g which is the best yet (0.8). It also appeared after Jobs had passed.
Sometimes things get oversimplified so that Grandma can understand them.
Oops, reading on, I see you've already come to that conclusion. The objectivity is appreciated. If you ever get the chance, try the LO from a Touch 3g. It's better than the touch 4g for no good reason.
Just did a blind test between the 5 and 4S for volume, and to my surprise the iphone 5 sounded louder to me with my IEM's. As far as sound quality I don't think one's better than the other, it's more of the fact that they sound different and I actually prefer the 5.
....I realize I am late to the discussion here....
I have found much musical pleasure in using the IPHONE4 as a source for my 2 channel system.
NAIM amp >>> FRITZ speakers
Of course I plan to use a "real" source in the future, but after extensive comparison with the dragonfly dac,
the IPHONE4 dac wins for my ears... it's smooth, non fatiguing, albeit with alot less sharpness and edginess,
but to me that is a GOOD THING.... I don't end up sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for something to
happen (what a horrible way to enjoy music)....
In short, I'm astounded that this simple IPHONE4 can be such an enjoyable source....
