I understand the hate towards the beats brand but not monster's. I bought a pair of monster turbine pearl for my mom's birthday and they sound pretty good.

Some of the newer Monsters are not that bad - though still not exactly what I'd call hi-fi.  For the most part, I think people tend to rail against Monsters for charging hi-fi (or at least mid-fi) prices for products that aren't necessarily either.  Again, for me, all the ire I have is directed squarely against the two Beats models I've previously owned.  Hideous abominations, those.

Tried explaining to my friend that beats aren't quality headphones. He told me since celebrities use it, it must be good. He purchased the wireless beats.
