Has anyone else had problems with certain games where you get fine fps and then the second you wiggle your mouse the fps drops to 7-15 fps depending on how fast you move your mouse?  I've had this problem with audiosurf (not a big deal because I usually just use the S and D keys) and Dead Space 3 (made the game unplayable) I just discovered that turning off "enhance pointer precision" in windows fixes the problem entirely... FrankieOnPC also says it improves your accuracy in game....

EDIT: I agree you'd be crazy to try and OC the 290x with the stock cooler.  I wonder how different the temps would be if you replaced the fan/wired it to the mobo instead so it's not stuck at AMDs preset 55% max speed?

With they stock cooler they were trying to push that cooler to the max when on the Uber BIOS. Something about saving costs. Still, ridiculous card. Matches or passes Titan in most cases for much, much less. AMD has a winner.

There is apparently headroom in the stock cooler...if you don't mind server box style fan whine.

"Enhance pointer precision" = mouse acceleration. I'm pretty sure you know why mouse acceleration is a bad thing by now.

At least the option to turn it off in Windows is there. If only I could say the same for 98SE...why, yes, I still play a few old games now and then that insist on that old OS.

What I don't get, though, is how mouse acceleration causes a graphics card to act up...

Anyway, I do it because watecooling is quieter than air coolers.

x2 ... running dead silent at 50C load is plenty reason for me to watercool.

I mean, that versus sounding like a jet engine and loading at 75C ...

Indeed

Yes, yes it is.
Anyhow, someone said that Corsair PSUs are just cheap rebrands?

For those Dark Souls 2 fans out there:

Closed Beta Test - Round 3. Currently available for DL on PS3. The code was sent out to beta testers. It's a universal code with a set number of uses and then becomes invalid.

You can download it today and it starts tomorrow. Test is going to be 24 hours I think for stress testing. You can go to the website for details

Code: 38QQ-8DNE-97AA

Enjoy.
