Wanted to buy a 7970 and.. THE PRICES!

In November I was hesitant to get a Gigabyte unit for $270 new/no rebate (with 3 games).  No incentive to get a R9, considering the price inflation and wait for it... BF4! >.<

There was a BF4 sale during the winter using a special promo code. The base game was $20 and deluxe was $30. I got the deluxe

Public service announcement.

I recently RMA'ed a Powercolor HD7970 that died while I was doing work in Word. My warranty claim was DENIED due to a very small nick on the edge of the card. I didn't even know it was there until I received the zoomed-in shot from the Powercolor warranty guys. Just a heads up that Powercolor will screw you six different ways if you've left so much as a fingerprint on the product. This is the first time in over 10 years I've ever had to RMA a video card and will never give Powercolor another cent.

Weird, because I never had any issues with their cards lol.  Good to know though, sorry about their **** RMA service...

They're like, "Do you see this atom-sized scratch on the edge right there?!?!? NO WARRANTY!"

Good to know, I'll steer clear from them to simply show they are not the only game in town and that crappy warranty service isn't acceptable.

I bought two Powercolor GPU's

Got both rebates back for $30 each already faster than the dates they showed me.

Call, complain, threaten to file with BBA, community forums etc. But of course, use an escalating tone. Nothing will get done if you get pissed at them, they see it everyday. Be nice and be friendly, if they are overly unreasonable, lay on the fire.

Threaten with stuff that will hurt their reputation legitimately. Don't mention any legal stuff. They will send you to their legal department and won't speak with you unless you either drop your 'claim' or attempt to sue them....which you won't be dong.

Just sold another 10,000 Doge just before the Halving for $20 USD. Because why not.

22k in reserve now.

What the hell happened to SiSoft Sandra Lite since I last used it?

I remember back then, its tables, graphs and numbers were nicely laid out and compared...now its a mess. The graph option keeps on refreshing, doesn't put the points and descriptors in the right spots etc -_)-

My 7870 from PowerColor overclocks surprisingly well for a completely reference design of the most basic proportions.

1250MHz Core with 1500MHz Memory.

Overclocked to post R9 270X levels, niceu.

Edit:

Witcher 2 Hardened Edition is on sale for $3.99 right now

I'm probably not gonna play it. But I beat it before. Projekt RED is awesome. Their philosophy on DRM, piracy, and revenue is amazing and fan based. I beat the game a while back with my pirate ship copy.

I've been repurchasing games that are on sales that I downloaded and beat previously. I don't ever play them again, but it is what I can afford to give.

Witcher 2 is far to easy, even on permadeath insane mode. Can't wait for W3 though.

? Really, I found normal to be challenging already, but then again, I didn't plan much and 'runned and gunned'.

Installed 14.1 AMD drivers for Mantle....

Tries out BF4 with newest mantle patch and everything.

...lag spikes, menu freezing, game crashing everywhere....what?

Looks online. Multiple reports of cards that are not the 280/290 or their direct rebrands(290 has no rebrand) having awesome performance, but cards with regular 7000x line having schiit issues. Reads report

All the same series cards. What? Reads last link to find the 'fine print' of the Mantle release

Quote:
In addition, AMD has released a list of known issues for its Catalyst 14.1 drivers. It told us that rather than delay the release of Mantle because of these issues it wanted to get it into the hands of gamers as soon as possible so it can get real-world feedback as it works to fix the issues. Here they are:

1. Mantle performance for the AMD Radeon HD 7000/HD 8000 Series GPUs and AMD Radeon R9 280X and R9 270X GPUs will be optimized for BattleField 4 in future AMD Catalyst releases. These products will see limited gains in BattleField 4 and AMD is currently investigating optimizations for them as they are the next highest priority products.

..........ahhhh.

lol Bowei, my hope for EA and or DICE ever creating anything decent again has completely faded.  BF games were really the only games I played before and now that bf4 is so trash I honestly haven't done any gaming in the past few weeks other than audio surf.  Scary withdraws for sure.
