PC Enthusiast-Fi (PC Gaming/Hardware/Software/Overclocking) - Page 227

If you mean will the 290 suffice, the answer is absolutely. It can handle every game totally maxxed 1080p. It's actually more intended for 1440p or 2560x1600

My bad, I meant the 270X/260X.

Waiting for a cool/quiet 290/x, amazing for the price!

Considering the AMD 7870 GHz edition is $140 after MIR right now. I can't see myself getting the R9 270 anymore($200)......

ok

AMD 7870 GHz Edition CrossFireX(2 way) or AMD R9 280x. Benchmarks show the 7870 X2 to be faster, and cheaper.

They're pretty much the same card. Get the cheaper one.

Also, damn Nvidia and their 780ti. Suppose my 670 4GB will do for a while longer, since I don't fancy the fuss upgrading, especially so close to the next generation.

Guess they forgot to send me one then :P.  I signed up back in June and they've sent me a few preview videos, but no followup invite yet.  Oh well, maybe I'll get picked for the next one.

Seems like there will be plenty more opportunities. Wouldn't worry.

Now yes, but not going to be worth in the long term.  (Not even factoring support for CFX)

Explain your reasoning please?

280x gets more updates, and will likely crossfire better. Single card performance is important too as many games tend to have issues with CFX/SLI at launch. The current batch of 280x is just a 7970 rebrand. Supposedly between now and January, Tahiti XTL will emerge.

Most of the games I play do not even support crossfire..

I would much rather have the added support of the 280x than the free games that come with the 7970 haha.

But if you have the motherboard and psu, crossfire will be cheaper. Just some obvious caveats
