Not to mention I'd have to lug my computer over to the TV now, too much effort, then I'd have to lug it back over so I could actually do work on it. Way too much effort, my main screen is 1080p anyways, close enough. Lol, not that I game that much anymore.
So that means consoles aren't for you?

Sadly (or not) yes. But I've been a PC gamer since I was really young, so nothing has really changed. Besides the occasional Super Smash Bros with family, I don't game on consoles, I don't even own one. It does kind of suck though, since there are games that haven't and probably never will be ported to PC that I want to play. Perhaps if I get the chance to I can try it on one of my monitors, since I never have issues with them.

HardOCP did their review of AMD 290X Crossfire.  Here's the bottom line:

Quote:

The Radeon R9 290X CrossFire configuration owned GTX TITAN SLI. There wasn't one situation where R9 290X CrossFire wasn't faster. It didn't just ride the line with TITAN SLI, it leaped well beyond GTX TITAN SLI performance at 5760x1200 on three displays and on a 4K display.

...

We saw from 20-40% performance advantages with R9 290X CrossFire over GTX 780 SLI. These are real, large increases, in performance. That extra money spent {100 USD}, is more than going into more performance delivered and a better gameplay experience.

Hmm, so AMD is leader of the pack at the ToTL video card league, then. Not that I have the resources to attain such a card.

I have the resources...but am fearful of which body part I'd lose to the wife's anger over such a 'frivolous' expense.

And I've seen her with a cleaver so it's not something I'd want to push.

Yeah...can't understand the need to have so many different shoes and purses and outfits and...well you get the point.

If we're to figure out what she spends against what I do it's very clearly mismatched...what's her's is her's and what's mine...is her's apparently.

I know how you feel. My mom paid $800 for a sewn-together piece of leather and cloth (a purse), and she says I'm wasting money buying my PC stuff.

Every time I see posts like that, it makes me glad that I'm a single man with no intentions of getting married, ever. Just me and my hardware, the enthusiast's dream...

Meanwhile, I have to make the hard choice of determining whether to buy a graphics card now to replace my ailing GTX 480, or wait to see what NVIDIA might have up their sleeves with the GTX 880. I bet that a decade ago, people who blew $500 on a Radeon 9800 XT instantly regretted it when the GeForce 6800 Ultra showed up months later...

I've already decided on the Fractal Design R4, but i want to know if there are any alternatives to the case. Go on ahead and scroll down if you want to.

What I'm Looking For (Click to show)
A Mid-Tower case
Can support at least 2 120mm fans on front and 2 120/140mm fans on top
Can support a 240mm radiator
Clean, simple looking
Has USB 3.0
Has tool-less drive cages (With snap-on bracket things, like the R4)
Good cable management (Rubber grommets, etc)
UNDER $130
Optional:
Has side window
Has sound dampening foam
Front door for 5.25 inch bays

I really like the fractal R4, and I don't think you can go wrong with that case.  I love my Cooler Master HAF-X, but thats definitely not a mid tower and definitely has no sound dampening :D.  I think as far as dampening goes you'd likely be best off with a case like the R4, since a window means that side won't be dampened at all.  I think the R4 is a good choice for your criteria.

Thanks, I was looking for something cheaper, like the NZXT H230, but it didn't have some stuff I wanted. Also, I like the side window on the R4, even if there's so dampening, I'm willing to sacrifice several decibels for a nice way to show off my parts.

I remember that a few of you had those smexy-lookin' individually sleeved colored cables. Where did you get them?
