Btw, do you know anything -- anything at all -- that might be a good replacement to Fraps? I tried it once a long time ago, and the filesizes were phenomenal. Compressing them was a hassle, too.

I hated fraps with a passion when I used it years ago.  Such an inefficient resource hog when it's on.

Better than taksi if you don't like a convoluted configuration :D

Indeed, Yazen, I downloaded Taksi, tried configuring it, got frustrated, and uninstalled it.

Really interested in those new R200 class AMD GPU's. My budget only allows me a rebranded but cheaper 7xxx card though but meh.

WAIT WHAT

Radeon R9 280[edit]

Radeon R9 280X was announced on September 25, 2013. With a launch price of $299, it will be based of off Tahiti XTL chip, being a slightly upgraded, rebranded Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition.

REALLY, they made a rebrande CHEAPER upgrade to the 7970 :O

the 7970 is still upwards of $300... are you saying this Rx200 series is an upgrade that is also CHEAPER than the current gen stuff :O

Any one know of a program that monitors WHAT programs are creating load on your system... my temps are up AGAIN? They where idle around 40c now they are back where they where before I put the dmn Coller in my system... and something is making BIG load spikes around 80-90% randomly in my system... it could be uTorrent but I'd like to confirm what the hell it is.

Seriously uTorrent and jRiver should NOT cause such BIG loads on my i5 3950

I almost bought a Sapphire 7970 for $260 off newegg, prices are rocky these days.  Wonder what BF will bring, won't hurt seeing the $300 MSRP of the "whatever" rebrand lol.

From now on, all AMD cards with new codenames will be referred to as AMD "whatever" GPU

Try closing svchost.exe (or multiple processes named "), and see how it affects your system.  Tixati > uTorrent at actually managing memory and system resources.  Might be heavier, but certainly doesn't spike.

Hey so if I have a 7970 right meow and planned on getting a second one in the next year/ year and a half should I sell my 7970 and pick up one of these?

What are the physical differences? More vram and a bigger OC?

I have no idea, I just pulled that from the Wiki Page. These where also just annouced like 10 days ago, so the details should be trickleing out soon, and hopefully some one will have some SERIOUS objective data comparisons!
