I've been trying to record both mic and speakers with CamStudio because Fraps takes too long to compress (plus, I don't have anything that comes close to my dad's 10TB "digital storage cache"). So far, I've been having a lot of trouble. Hope you guys could help...

On playback devices and or recording devices, there is usually a device called stereo mix.  If its hidden, view hidden devices and enable it.  If you do not have "hardware" stereo mix,  you can always use Virtual Audio Cable (costs $ if you don't pirate ;))

I'm sure there's other free alternatives in the wild

Set your default playback device to your stereo mix / vac, then in taksi set the capture device accordingly.

Not all cards have stereo mix, but 99% modern ones do.  If you're using onboard, try getting generic drivers.

If you're struggling with ffdshow tryouts not giving enough options, try the original project.  I noticed tryouts isn't showing as many encoders, though the performance gains would be worthwhile.

Is a 1000W really necessary?

Phantom Case

CMStorm Scout (Parts Missing)

Sabretooth Z77 (Dead)

ASRock Z77 Extreme6 (Dead)

i5 3470

i5 3570K

Which are both, pretty much teh SUCK for any good gaming so a stock cooler will suffice.

32GB of G.Skill RipjawsX

16GB of G.Skill RipjawsX

MSI R7970 3GB

WD Caviar Black 1TB (Dead)

DVD-RW really doesn't matter brand... (Dead)

CM SilentPro 1000W P/S

I assembled for him a box from the leftover parts that actually worked.

His kid thought he knew how to build a PC...  Well $600 in junk later, his kid should have stuck to his BestBuy HP and JewelQuest...

And I just put together what I am told to... Been doing this way too long to actually give a schiit any more if your trying to drive the GTX Titan with an i3.

I just smile and put it in a case for you. :veryevil:

LOL.

I built my first computer getting most the stuff used on forums, when I was 16.  Really it's the same as idiot teens trying to hot rod cars and driving them off the road.

My parents let me buy all new as long as the build was inexpensive so I went with the Trinity generation of APUs. Might get a Kaveri build if Kavery can deliver because it seems like it could be the case at this point.

Lol, I got into PCs when I was three..

MS-DOS or IBM DOS whatever you want to call it was cumbersome for someone who couldn't read big words :D

Anyone play snake on DOS?

I got my first modern PC in third grade, a fairly fast P3 system.  Formatting the OS was second nature to me, as it would often BSOD.  If you guys ever used Win 95, the system partition corrupts on smth on a BSOD.

Always had my emulators and roms on a floppy

Y'all need to get off my lawn.

First computer was the TI-99/4A...with the speech synthesizer and cassette deck for programmes.  Hot stuff.  That was followed up by an Amiga 2000 and then a 3000.  The family then downgraded to an IBM compatible 486.  Made me sad as it was nowhere near as good as Amiga was; but with Commodore having ran that into the ground wasn't much else.

After that it was a Cyrix (PR266?) based Compaq purchased as MY own first machine.  Luckily it was a Super Socket 7 which means I could upgrade to a K6-2 350.  This was right when the P3 was coming out.  For the next 11 years I was....less affluent so it was all AMD.  Thunderbirds and Bartons.  Even got a Tyan MPX for dual core loving ($diety bless Linux).  This was followed up by a dual socket Opteron 265 for quad core in 2005.  This lasted me until 2010(ish) and for some reason it's been Intel ever since.

Apple ][ here, along with a C64, Atari 520ST, and then straight into 286's... The Apple and C64 were a ton of fun back in the day of the 300 Baud Hayes.

... ugh Have I mentioned I hate computers [yet use them and fix them every day for hours]

got sucked in when I was like 7 my self q.q mom and her BF where going to college for Computers, he was the programming teacher...

Had a Pentium 4 till about 2 years ago... I drove that old girl HARD, shoved 4gbs Dual Channel in her, and I cleaned her often. Now though I've got this year old clunker that can barely Re-Render Wii Games to 1080p so I want to upgade but... OBAMACARE impending so my upgrade budget has been set aside for HEALTH insurance *face palm*
