You don't need an MSI gpu I have a sapphire dual x 7970 and the program works great for OCing and recording although I never record lol

1 - Don't need to be MSI.  EDIT:  Missed the last two posts

2 - Afterburner is better

3 - Afterburner is free

4 - Fraps and Afterburner suck

5 - Use Taksi

Was able to record WoW 1600x1200 on a Wolfdale+9500GT with DivX compression, and never dipped below 60FPS!

This was long before I could afford to have Terabytes of storage, in which 1 hour of video ~700MB.

PITA to configure though, tread lightly Skywalker

I'll have to give it a go sometime. I'll be honest and say I use AB simply because I'm already running it as an OC tool and GPU status monitor. Doesn't seem to state DX10+ support though.

It's open source.

1 - Use Virtual Audio Cable, as its a pretty cool piece of software for stereo mixing.  Or if your card has drivers for mixing, but if it did, you probably would not be asking

:p

2 - If it is cheep, I cannot resist

As I said, does it support audio input?

Here's a question for you guys to, So I've got cash to waste and I NEED a cleaner power for my pc and audio equipment

that said I'm purchasing a Furman Power Conditioner [I get brown outs more than I'd like to admit] if I plug my PC into that [I built her my self] would it be redudant to have a self powered USB hub as well for use with my Dac? I'm thinking it would be as, the Mobo it self should be pretty clean running out of the OCZ Certified Bronze PSU and the Furman Power Conditioner. I would think the on board usb 2.0s should be cleaned up by the Furman Power Conditioner

Agree'd I do not want to do "stero mixing" I want the Video Record program to record the PC audio within it self [something windows allows via the Stero Mix Input]

Btw, I just Googled Taksi, but it said the latest version is '06

Taksi supports stereo mix input.  You have to enable stereo mix beforehand, otherwise there will be nothing for taksi to record ..

Get latest build from sourceforge.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/taksi/?source=navbar

- Try getting the 32-bit version of ffdshow, http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/  64-bit versions are sloppy in performance, and are running on top of a 32bit platform anyways lol.  This is where you'll have to experiment to find the best quality/performance ratio you need.  (Honestly I no longer recall my settings lol)

The Fraps and Bandi encoders work with Taksi without any limitations as well :O

- If you're not into editing or slow motion, I guess 24fps would be ideal for youtube ;)

- Audio input should be stereo mix, PCM gives me bugs, though the AC3 filter seems to work.  As a member of Head-Fi, you should probably record in 320 / 96000 Hz, or even find a lossless codec lol.

When in the game, there should be a green square if hooked.  Press the assigned hotkeys to start, stop, etc.

EDIT:  Will probably want this if you don't have any bizarre codec packages installed:  http://www.ac3filter.net/wiki/Download_AC3Filter

EDIT2:  Ah, the nostalgia >.>'  Might want to try AC3-ACM 2.2

Hope I don't bother you, but how do I find (or rather, where do I find) the stereo mix on Windows 7? I'm running on 64-bit.

I've been trying to record both mic and speakers with CamStudio because Fraps takes too long to compress (plus, I don't have anything that comes close to my dad's 10TB "digital storage cache"). So far, I've been having a lot of trouble. Hope you guys could help...
