PC Enthusiast-Fi (PC Gaming/Hardware/Software/Overclocking) - Page 159

IMO "AMD's 5 ghz cpu" isn't targeted at people like us who know better... They want to sell this product to the type of people who buy beats by dre (People who have a ton of money to spend and way less brain cells) They'll say "I want the best computer ever" and they will go online see that this one has the highest "listed" clock speed buy it, and then pay some guy at a computer shop an additional $200 to install it in 15 minutes.  These people aren't smart enough to look into the OCing do's and don'ts nor are they smart enough to look into non commercial processors.

On the other hand that Enermax Ostrog looks really nice, too bad they're discontinued on Newegg frown.gif

That does look nice . ..

How is the game? Not familiar with that series ...

Looks like it's going to be a whole new formula. Combat seems to be a lot more involved than other MMOs, and there's generally a larger emphasis on dynamic quests. The game is open world, and has destructible environments.

There's also another Everquest game, which will basically be just a builder mode. You'll get a plot of land in the world, then you can build whatever you want on it. You can even sell buildings and stuff you make for real world money. They said they'd have events from time to time where you can submit building designs that will then be used in the actual Everquest Next game.

Here's the whole debut conference here:

I played EQ 1 for longer than I'd like to admit. Awesome game. Devs that are in it for the long haul - - it shows.

Their presentation blew ESO out of the water, or should I call it Neverwinter 2.0. It won't last the beginning hype.

Stoked for EQ, but you never know until you get a hands on.

I got one of the last 3 at Fry's Electronics (US). I am not disappointed by my $50 purchase.

Randomly got the itch to play Morrowind again. All modded up, it looks really nice.

At times, it slaughters my CPU, dropping into the low-20s. (The framerate shown in the screens isn't actually how it runs, performance just picks up when you open the command console.)

Playing as a medium armor and spear character, just because later ES games don't have them. tongue.gif

Holy crap, had a close call with GTX 480 overclocking last night.

Stress-tested, crashed and didn't recover when trying to break that 845-850 MHz barrier, and upon hard-rebooting, heard a familiar pattern of POST beeps-the sort it gives when it can't detect a video card.

I shut it off, re-seated things, waited a moment, turned it back on...and thankfully, it still works. Seems like I can forget overclocking this card much past 800-830 MHz core, even with a waterblock.

ewww ouchies, I've still not gotten my i5 3550 to a stable 4ghz... but I haven't got an aftermarket heat sync ethier and the air slow in my case sucks... non the less I'll get it stable enough sooner or later. Might try and really clock it during the winter, when's it's going to be like 40 degree's in my room xD I'll have the whole Winter to put more cash into my rig xD.

Hey Guys!

Picked up a Q9550 (free) for my ancient box, it comes up fine @ 410 x 8.5 but 2 cores fail with Prime95 after 8 hours. I only have DDR2 memory @ 800 so there is no chance of a FSB of 420... The VID auto sets itself @ 1.28v

I realize this is old gear, and I won't be spending any money on a new rig till it totally dies...

Does anyone know the best way to stabilze those two cores in Prime? Would a volt increase on the CPU or Ram help that out?

Thanks!

Volt increase VERY slowy. I think I did like .005 lol. used the lowest I could to get a stable 4.0ghz on my Processor for at least 15mins b4 I stressed tested. [which is a .3ghz boost to my cpu] and since your only going for like .02 it should b doable! But I'm no expert, just emphasing the need for SLOWNESS and Paitence xD
